Dominions 5 And You: A Guide to (Almost) Not Getting Slaughtered

Dominions 5 - Warriors of the Faith

In Dominions 5 you take control of a powerful being that rules a nation and aspires to godhood. The type of Pretender Gods can vary from magically powerful arch mages to huge titans or large monuments. Dominions is a deep 4x turn based strategy game with a very large variety of spells and units.

Imagine you read my review and it made you come to the correct conclusion that Dominions 5: Warriors of the Faith is a kickass game. Not wanting to feel left out, you've then hurriedly gone and bought it so you can try it out for yourself. But Dominions looks daunting and you don't know where to start. Have no fear! With over 55 hours of experience in the game, I am (almost) capable of producing a newbie guide!

Before you get into a game of Dominions, you should visit the Options menu. You need to make two changes there: enable multi-turn moves and have tasks automatically assigned to your commanders. The former is great when you're trying to send scouts, heroes and armies somewhere far away and don't want to micro their route every turn. The latter will make sure that any wizards that you train will automatically be set to research spells - after all, that's why you'll be hiring the bulk of wizards.

With these two options on, you can then start the game!
