One Last Day

Hey! I know! The banner shows a guy gathering a mushroom, but I'll talk about how gathering has changed in another post! Today I'm going to talk about something that has changed also a lot and will affect the way you play, weather and wind! [h1]Global weather[/h1] As you know, the current weather system in OLD is based in a bunch of clouds roaming around, some of them with rain. It looked sometimes cool, but it didn't feel that there was an actual storm, just a passing cloud. Now there are a few weather presets that will change randomly and affects weather, lighting, fog, visibility, sounds and even the wind. And yes, wind is something that will become really relevant in OLD. In this stage this weather is truly global, which means that when it changes it does for everyone in the server, regardless where they are. However, it wont be the same a storm in the forest than in the snow. Also, it wont be the same hunting under the rain than in a sunny day. It has a direction and a intensity and affects the world and your character. Wind will be a future resource to impulse vehicles and to produce energy for your bases. It may vary depending of where you are, which biome are you in, and the current weather. So it wont blow the same in the desert under the shining sun than in the top of a mountain during a snow storm. You will learn how to use it. [img]{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/8604501/6fb4b0c1a7c80cdc4187925c403d76518d216704.png[/img] [h1]Temperature[/h1] This one for now will only affect how the weather behaves in certain parts of the world, and where arid biomes should spawn. In the following stages of development temperature may affect also your character and how you should dress, however this is not planned to be a hard feature and by default wont affect that much the gameplay, but you will be able to choose the difficulty. [h1]Day / Night cycle[/h1] Of course this one has been remade too. For now it works pretty much the same as other day / night cycle, reducing visibility and increasing dangers, but in the future it will be tied to temperature too. There are just 2 major features to be done, which are improved NPC AI and building spawning. However I'm starting to add finally some basic content, creating weapons, new materials and designing crafting recipes. Remember that the foundations stage will lack A LOT of content, but this will be added in the stage 2, which instead of waiting to have it fully finished, it will be splitted into smaller updates to add content gradually.
