Rogues of Europa is a gothic roguelike RPG. Fight the physical and metaphysical evils brewing below the surface of a rapidly modernizing society.
I have been diligently working on the new quest system this week. Yet it seems like every time I want to add a new feature, something else crops up which feels more urgent.
I started on a few conversations, but then I realized I needed a few additions to the token system for variability. There were a few setbacks here, and I went on to make a few conversations with the new features. Now, all conversation elements can use the token system, and I added something called "spintax". Spintax was invented for email marketing to add some variety to emails so they could say the same thing without saying the exact same thing. In the context of conversations, it will make it so the player won't be able to effectively remember conversations between playthroughs, unless he's really paying attention.
Armed with the new conversations, I started on some of the quest generation, but I realized it would need to wait because I wanted the quest screen to be revamped a little bit. Previously, it was quite lacking in features, full of bad information, glitchy, and also gave away far too much. The redesign is well under way however.

Nothing final here, but still some interesting things to talk about.
There is now a generated quest description text which doesn't spoil anything about the quest you haven't discovered yet. I also modified the minimap to be more reliable and to give out some great information, such as where you've found clues and accurate road locations, as well as making some general rendering improvements to it.
I should have plenty of time next week, and I hope to push through and release the redesigned quest. Again, this will just be one quest in one town, but it will be a stepping stone to more impressive things, and as a proof of concept, it will pave the way for bigger updates faster.
