Devlog #52

Rogues of Europa

Rogues of Europa is a gothic roguelike RPG. Fight the physical and metaphysical evils brewing below the surface of a rapidly modernizing society.

Just a quick devlog this week. I'm in the process of moving to a new apartment so things are a bit hectic, but I've made some good progress. First off, thanks to det for finding a few bugs. I haven't pushed out a patch for them since the gameplay will change relatively drastically in the next update I'm planning, but they technically will be fixed in the next update, for what it's worth. I think I learned a good lesson this week about unique identifier tags and what happens when they aren't as unique as I thought they were. The tinkering system is progressing well, and I have almost finished the small artwork panels I have planned. It will more strongly resemble the puzzle UI rather than the existing inventory or even shop UI elements, and I think that will be a good direction for it. In what I'm planning for the tinkering system, you'll be able to choose to have up to 2 triggers and up to 2 payloads, which will allow for some fun and interesting things. I have heard recommendations to add wiring and logic gates, which might be interesting and possibly an avenue which I could move down in the future, but the plan for now is to make them single-tile traps for monsters. And just to keep the eyes on the prize, the tinkering system is meant to make the incoming quest system more interesting and more possible. Hopefully the move concludes quickly and I'm able to make the first steps toward the new quest system later next week, but no promises. Remember to email any questions, comments, and prayer requests you have to roguesofeuropa@protonmail.com.
