We're thrilled to get this out there - a brand new demo with more content, including 16 new upgrades, four new super powers, shrines that allow you to pick between three different upgrades and much, much more!
But that is not all! We have also hidden an item within the Next Fest demo which you will be able to find by paying close attention to the in game journal - and the first five people to take a screenshot upon obtaining it and putting it in the "Hidden-Item-Challenge" channel in the Beyond the Long Night Discord will win a copy of the game. We'll also be giving away random copies beyond the initial five, so even if you're late to the demo it's still well worth taking part.

[b]Upgrades/Superpower changes[/b]:
- Increased the period of immunity after using the pinball superpower, giving the player longer to escape danger if they end up in a bad spot
- Laser Focus (clock Superpower) changed to: "Aim and shoot a laser beam that does more damage if multiple enemies are hit at once. Time is slowed while aiming."
- Passive and superpower shields changed to: "Generate a shield that wears off after a short period of time and breaks upon taking damage. Recharging your superpower will also extend the life of the shield." The base time the shield is active has been drastically reduced
- Self Destruct changed to: "Blow up one of your balloons, triggering a large, highly damaging explosion. If your health is above 50%, take one damage. If your health is below 50%, deal twice as much damage to enemies."
- Increased knockback (wind superpower upgrade) changed to: "Enemy knockback caused by superpowers is increased. Superpowers do slightly more damage."
[b]Polish/Bugs[/b]:
- Updated Unity Engine
- Updated Wwise (audio engine)
- Fixed bug where the bird would fly sideways if thrown downwards
- Fixed a bug where you could get into an infinite conversation with two cow statues
- You can now open the Current Build menu from any Pick from three menu
- Greatly reduced the loading times when starting a completely fresh run
- Increased the grace period before certain enemies start attacking the player
- Superpower charge HUD tweaked
- Fixed ricocheting bullets sometimes travelling inside the map
- Fixed fireworks sometimes travelling inside the map
- Fixed missing journal entry for selecting the shield stone at a monument
- Slowed down the speed of dart trap projectiles
- Reduced the number of dart traps in some rooms where they were excessive
- You now have to travel further into a biome before the max number of enemies in a room is reached
- Your player level and your progress last run has more of an impact on the initial difficulty of the next run
- Killing enemies and collecting health items makes the difficulty ramp up slightly faster
- Superpowers are offered much less, and upgrades are favored much more.
- Fixed an issue where doors were opening and immediately closing when you entered a room
- Weighted blocks now trigger dart traps
- Thorns now shimmer like spikes do
- Undiscovered map icons (i.e. question marks) now display in the centre of a room until the room is discovered
- Added a pop-up when you collect a moo-tivational quote from a cow
- Fixed cow hats not properly aligning with the cow's head in the dialogue box
- Dialogue tweaks and new additions
- Added an animation for the player waking up
- Added an animation for gaining a balloon
- Optimisations focused on reducing spikes in performance when the player wakes up, between room transitions and when auto saving. Ongoing process.
- Bumped up biome ambiences in volume when there is no music playing
