v1.3.2 - New Cards Against Deck Bloat

Cardboard Town

Cardboard Town is a city-building card game. Manage your resources, obtain upgrades, draw your cards and thrive! Random events, quest cards, and game modes make each run different.

You thought days of update for Cardboard Town are over? Well, we thought so too. After we've parted ways with the game's artist and tired from developing the game from all these months, we wanted to focus on our newer titles. But as we had the chance to take a little break from Cardboard Town and studying the style of the game with our new team members, we've wanted to add some new stuff to make the game even better!!
Cards Against Deck Bloat
To have a functioning city, you need many different cards. But many cards means you have less control over your deck. We've heard your feedback on this and thought it would be a good idea to fight this with even more cards. Jokes aside, our 2 new buildings (which are in the Starting Deck now) let you destroy some cards, so you can get rid of ones that you don't want in your deck. Asphalt Factory It's a cheap building that lets you have some pocket money in terms of Tax Dollars (this lets you go over your maximum money, so it helps fight the RNG with drawing expensive cards early) and with Turn to Gravel you can Destroy a Card to generate a one-time-use road. So while this building generates 2 cards, both of them are destroyed upon use and one of them even lets you destroy any card you don't want in your hand. Waste Management Facility This building (also in the Starting Deck) generates an Action card called Decompose, which you can use to destroy a card to gain some resources. Having two cheap buildings that let you destroy cards will let you get rid of cards that you don't want in your deck and hopefully combat the deck bloat issues!
99 Problems but a Resource ain't one
Now you can effectively remove a resource from a run! Stabilizing a resource will mean it will be locked in place, it will no longer trigger with effects and can not be reduced or increased. Don't want to care about your people's safety? Then don't! But of course this is a very powerful effect, so it's not easy to come by. You need to find the Resource Fusion Center first from one of your 'get a new card' events. Then, you need to place that building to get a random resource Stabilizer added to your deck. When you draw that stabilizer, if you don't like the resource it stabilizes, fret not! Just discard it to get a new one. While this is a neat new feature, as with all things new, it might cause bugs. So if you encounter one, please do let us know! This building creastes a Tax Dollar and a Random Action Card for all you excitement seekers out there! Also we have a new action card that can be found during runs called Fruits of Science, which gives you one of each resource. Nice! With more deck control cards in the starting deck and our new mechanics, we hope you'll enjoy the new version of Cardboard Town!
New City Builder Game Coming Up!
We also have a new city building game in the works! It's less card focused and more shape focused, a cute little game where you can stack buildings on top of each other.
