The Orcs situation...

The Dark Horde

The Dark Horde is a roguelike deckbuilder where you control the flow of time by playing cards! Summon a horde of minions at your command, harvest the Souls of fallen enemies and send your disposable Goblin Looters on the Battlefield to seize precious Gold. Lay waste and enjoy being Evil!

Hello! Today I present a major update for the demo of The Dark Horde! NEW RANK 1 DESTRUCTION DECK This update is much needed for a simple reason: players who started the game playing the Orc Warlord deck clearly felt the game being... dumb? If you already played the Orcs starter deck maybe you already know the reason: Orcs are WAY TOO powerful! So powerful you can simply play an Orc Brawler and wipe out any resistance for the first 3-4 rounds of battle or even more. If your played the Orcs for your first game of The Dark Horde the game felt... stupid! The thing with the Orcs is that you have an easy time destroying the enemy village but you struggle looting resources since your warriors stomp on any easy prey. This aspect is simply not clear for a newcomer, while you immediatly feel the lack of resources if you already experienced the game playing the Zombie starter deck or the Graverobber deck. So I decided to assign the Orc Warlord deck to Destruction rank 3 and now we have the Blood-Eyed starter deck in its place for the Destruction domain as rank 1! Who are those Blood-Eye barbarians? While less powerful than the Orcs they replaced, those fierce marauders draw their power from the Sun: every Blood-Eye tribe member has a different ability with the DAY keyword. This means that their ability triggers only if it is daytime. Let's see which cards are included in the Blood-Eyed starter deck. 1) Blood-Eye Plunderer: a warrior with an ability that let you gain Sacrifice if you activate any Action button. 2) Blood-Eye Blacksmith: the cleric of the tribe. If you activate any Action button during the day, all you WARRIORS gain +2 damage on their attacks! 3) Viking Funeral: a pyromancy that applies BURN to each peasant on the battlefield (only PEASANTS, not Heroes or Big Wigs...) 4) Blood-Eye Plainstrider: a ranged warrior that increase its attack damage when you play an Action during the day. Couple it with the Blood-Eye Blacksmith an you will have a ranged killer on the Battlefield! I hope you enjoy the new starter deck! If you miss the ORcs, they will make their return in Early Access, and they will be available again when you hit level 7! I also changed the availability for some cards in the uncommon/rare/epic ranks. Mainly because with the Orcs starter deck out, there was little room left for the Orc Drummer, the Orc Motivator, the Orc King and the Wild Pillage! Feel free to spot what was added new... and if you see something missing, just wait for the Early Access :D DEMO SHOP UPDATE: I changed the upgrades available in the demo. The Forges are no longer available in the demo but now you'll have access to the Action Upgrades, which feel more interesting for the demo. The Icons for Death/Destruction/Corruption boosters have changed and should more clearly reflect the effect of adding a Death/Destruction/Corruption to your deck. That's all for now, see you on the Battlefields! Matt
