In this series, we tell the story of crew members who have marked the history of the Trailblazers. In this 5th episode, we discuss the practice of Sensee the cartographer.
His mother loved to tell that even as a small child, he would draw maps in the sand: circles, a few lines, the marks of a world to be imagined. Sensee had a unique ability; he was capable of translating the territory into a map.
When on an expedition, he always had with him a small notebook, a pencil, and a few observation tools: a spyglass, a sextant. He spent most of his time scribbling small diagrams and mathematical measurements in his notebook. Sensee would happily show his notebook to the curious. He explained his methods. But honestly, no one knew how he did it. How was he able, from his height as a small man, to see the world like a bird and draw its contours on a map? If his method was mysterious, his maps were very useful.

Many of his maps eventually became the standards of the March, the place of cold planning for Trailblazers and their wildest dreams. The dynamic map is now integrated into most Landships, and one might think Sensee's practice obsolete. Don't be fooled. The March remains to be discovered; it remains secret and ever-changing. As long as there is a territory to unfold, Sensees will remain indispensable.
Sensee's story shows us what it means to be an explorer, and how there isn't just one type of explorer. And you, what type of explorer will you be?
