In this series, we tell the story of crew members who have marked the history of the Trailblazers. In this seventh episode, we recount the tale of Geng, a ruthless commander whose existence some Trailblazers have long sought to uncover.
Geng's childhood remains a mystery—we know nothing about it. No traces of this commander's training or first expeditions survive. If Geng's memory has left an indelible mark anywhere, it is undoubtedly in the minds and flesh of his enemies. We are aware of 37 expeditions led by Geng, resulting in an astonishing 117 victorious battles. This record surpasses any realistic expectations, revealing a merciless and formidable commander.
Geng's 33rd expedition is particularly well-known, thanks to a detailed account. A scribe accompanied Geng throughout the journey, meticulously documenting his every action. This notebook, now preserved in Terminas, presents a stark contrast: its magnificent, rich binding belies the crude spelling and decadent grammar within. The paper—folded, malodorous, and stained with blood and gunpowder—conveys the horror eloquently. Pillaging, executions, and public killings appear to have been Geng's modus operandi.

The brilliance of his victories barely conceals a solitary and decadent life. Geng's anger and violence repulsed even his expedition comrades, who found themselves caught between the security offered by a victorious commander and his inhumanity. The March, it seems, elicits the strangest behaviors, even within the Trailblazers community. How you lead your men will be your choice.
