Pirate Commander - DevLog #3

Pirate Commander

Pirate Commander is survival/strategy game. You will have to take care of the crew and their physical and mental health, food, drinking water, medicine, weapons and ammunition. Find treasures, fight enemies from different factions and terrifying sea monsters.

Hello sailors! Everyone knows that a pirate captain's home is her/his ship, which is why everyone takes care of it as if it were their most precious treasure. In Pirate Commander it will be no different. To make everyone feel at home on their ship, we want to give players the opportunity to make their own decisions about how your ship is built. Therefore, the entire ship has been divided into slots in which the player chooses what to build. As a result it is up to you what will be available on your ship, and where. This is particularly important because, during a naval battle, we do not want the bullets to hit our ammunition stockpile. Not only will we lose cannonballs, but we will get even more damage because of the extra explosion. Now let us give you some examples of what you will be able to build. The first type of cabins you can build are warehouses. This is where your crew will store treasures, raw materials, water, and weapons necessary for combat. The standard warehouse is used to store raw materials such as raw meat, rum barrels, medicines, and wood or metal for repairing damaged ship components. The armory is a room where small arms, flintlock pistols, rifles, and other items important in combat are stored. After all, no one goes to a canteen to drink rum in full gear! This is where everything related to long range combat is stored like: cannonballs, gunpowder, blunderbuss ammunition, and ballista bolts. Thanks to them, instead of buying expensive items in ports, you will be able to find raw materials during the exploration and craft the necessary items by your own crewmembers. Some examples of craftable items are: repair tools for hull, meals for crew, or medicines to restore hp of sailors. The first example of a production cabin is a shipwright. Her/His task is to ensure that there are never a lack of materials to repair the ship, even after the hardest battle. For this purpose, he uses wood and metal from the ship's warehouses and produces ship repair kits. The second production cabin is the cook, who may seem to have no significant role, but is actually crucial to maintaining high crew morale. A well-fed crew, with full bellies after a good fight, is more willing to fight for their captain. The last cabin is the alchemist. There is no fight to make sure everyone gets out unscathed, and sometimes broken limbs or deathly rot are the smallest health problems that torment your crew. Fortunately, a good alchemist in her/his cabin is able to create healing potions that can do miracles. These potions are able to make your crewmates get back on their feet even if they are already half-way in the afterlife. We started with the cabins responsible for the economy, and in one of the next posts we will reveal a bit more of the ship's combat options.
