Hello everyone!
Over the past two months, I have finished designing most of the Chaos Front UI. Now, it's time to start coding. I'm aiming to release the game demo in October, which is four months away!
In this devlog, I want to introduce the concept of 'Formation' in Chaos Front.
Units in the game are divided into two main categories: Ships and Arms. Arms are further divided into two types: small and large. S-type units like Mecha and fighters can be stacked in squads of up to three, while L-type units like Artillery and Titans cannot be stacked with other arms. Since arms can't travel long distances in space on their own, they need to be carried on a ship to reach the mission target.

Our mercenary corps can deploy a maximum of four ships in the strike force. Each ship has a specific number of small and large hangars. Small arms can be placed in both types of hangars, but large arms can only be placed in large hangars. For example, the Impactor has three small hangars and one large hangar, while the Freighter only has three small hangars. It's important to note that all units in the strike force must have a captain or pilot.
Different missions have a limit of 1-4 ships. Even for missions with a limit of one ship, you can send 4 ships full of arms to strike. However, this will cost you extra maintenance and may even offset the mission rewards gained.
On the battlefield, ships can provide ability bonuses to arms within a certain command range. When the arms are low on HP and EN (Energy), they can return to the ship to recover. However, it's important to note that all HP and EN recovered are deducted from that ship's EN. When a ship is destroyed, all arms inside are also destroyed.
Additionally, ships can carry up to 4 items while weapons can carry up to 2 items. These items can provide restoration and ability enhancements. For example, the Repairer can restore HP, and the Thruster can dramatically increase the unit's movement in a turn.
The game's settings are still being refined and adjusted. Even after the demo is completed, further adjustments will be made based on your suggestions. That's all for this devlog. Let's talk more next month!
