Dev Update 2024-10-25

Another Friday, another weekly update! So what has happened since last time? Well to begin with we have continued working on some spells, this week we added the Elemental Slime to the closed beta. We have also, as expected, made some tweaks to the spells added last week to balance them further, more spells are also coming. [img]{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44148302/a81bf8592b69a8ee939f9d5c0df98ccc341d9fd7.png[/img] One of the larger changes we have made to the gameplay feel of the game is reworking the red color effect. We found the earlier version of this effect problematic, because the dynamic of giving almost complete control of healing distribution to the player made it difficult to balance the game and players were also way too dependent on needing to have red in at least one bottle. To add insult to injury, using the red color often felt a bit off. The most efficient way of using the color was often to just find an enemy on its own and then spamming the color for a bit until full health was reached. Not great game design. To address these issues we removed the red color to heal the player, and instead added a mechanic of temporary health. Hopefully this will make players less reliant on red in general while still allowing for making some specific builds around using red. Our goal here is to balance things out and while still keeping some levels of exciting randomness. These changes are still a work in progress and will be live on the closed beta soon-ish. Be REDy. E&M
