Continuous progress

Casual Game Engine

Casual Game Engine is a free game engine to let users create their own 2D top-down singleplayer shooter games.

Hey guys, I just wanted to tell you about the current progress. The game progresses more and more and the base engine is already finished. I am currently working on a full sample game which will most probably lead to extend the engine accordingly. What will the sample game be like? It is called Casual Pixel Warrior and you will control a survivor soldier who needs to pass the levels in order to win the game. Certain obstacles and enemies will cross your way and try to prevent you from reaching the level goal. Currently there are only two enemies (tank, headcrabs) and one obstacle type (energy ball that gives damage when hit). The soldier currently has three weapons (handgun, laser rifle and shotgun) and I will think about more weapons. At least I want to also add a grenade weapon which can be thrown at opponents. I want to create more opponents and obstacles to give it a pretty much diversity. What will also be needed to to, is to create levels (called maps). This is a bit time intensive, since I didn't create a map editor yet so I currently have to edit the map files manually. Anyways, exciting things will come and I am fairly sure that a first playable version will be finished and published at the current estimated release date. Kind regards
