“Tale of Jade / Li Guang” is a stand-alone roguelike card game with oriental elements.Constructing your own deck by 5 elements cards, Exploring the map, solving random encounters, beating the demon and uncovering the mystery of Li Guang’s Kingdom.

First, I apologize for the long delay! The game has been in development for far too long! From the end of 2022 until now, there have been no announcements about the game's development progress for two years. The reason is that I've been working full-time during this period, mostly developing the game on weekends or holidays. On one hand, the development progress has been very slow, and I felt embarrassed to share updates; on the other hand, too much OT- work schedule has been so busy that sometimes I wanted to share updates but forgot in the midst of the hustle. Recently, I quit my job and now have more time to develop the game, which has led to the current official version. This version of the game has learned from the lessons of previous versions and some player suggestions, making significant changes. So, without further ado, let's get straight to the point~ [h2]Official Version Gameplay Introduction[/h2] [h3]☆ Map Play[/h3] If you are an old player of our game, you might have some impression of our tile-matching gameplay. The original intention of that gameplay was to reference "Carcassonne" to enhance the game's fun, but the actual effect was not as expected. The tile-matching became very boring and mechanical in the later stages of the game. Therefore, we made some changes to the map this time. As mentioned at the end of 2022, this map references the gameplay of "Vault of the Void" and is designed as a small map mode where you can only move forward, not backward. You need to plan your route based on your number of [rations] (simply understood as movement points on the map) and eventually reach the boss at the far right to defeat it and move on to the next level. In simple mode, movement points are plentiful, but in higher difficulty modes, they might be scarce. [h3]☆ Feng Shui & Events[/h3] In the map gameplay, I've assigned each tile a "Feng Shui" attribute. Different Five Elements "Feng Shui" have different effects, and various map events are randomly scattered across the map. As you move through the map, you can plan your route based on the events you hope to encounter. Different weather conditions affect battles in different ways. I won't go into detail here; feel free to explore in the game! [h3]☆ Ability Checks[/h3] This map event is inspired by the dice-rolling gameplay of COC. Some events require attribute checks using the Jade Spirit's stats (agility, investigation, martial arts, etc.). Different Jade Spirits have different attributes, and you can improve your Jade Spirit's attributes through enlightenment points during the game. You need to choose a method of handling it based on your needs and strengths [h3]☆ Five Elements Combat[/h3] The Five Elements combat has always been a gameplay feature of "Yu Yan." This feature has been retained in this version and optimized. Before the game starts, you can choose to fight with the [Generative Breathing Technique] or [Generative Circulation Technique]; additionally, the cards you play in the same battle can not only [trigger generative effects] but also have the chance to [trigger inhibitive effects]. I hope this change adds more strategic fun to your battles~ [h3]☆ Demon Intentions[/h3] In this version, you can see the intentions of demons (provided your Jade Spirit has a high enough investigation value). Additionally, some cards have added the [Remove Demon Action] effect, making self-preservation methods in battles more abundant. By the way, the attributes of the Jade Spirit, such as [martial arts], [agility], [luck], [eloquence], and [charm], also provide different bonuses in battles. I won't spoil it here; feel free to explore and experience it in the game. On one hand, I'm not good at writing story scripts, and on the other hand, I wanted to remove the somewhat melodramatic storyline from the old version. However, the demons in the game each have their own small stories, and their stories are interconnected. I deeply agree with this. Therefore, given our limited development capabilities, this game has been made into three main levels. Each level has its own unique monster pool, card pool, and weather pool, striving to make each level interconnected yet fresh. The overall game size is not large; in simple mode, completing one playthrough takes about 30-60 minutes. [h3]☆ AI Usage[/h3] Old players should know that the four Jade Spirits and demons in both the new and old versions of this game were hand-drawn by our (former) studio artist, Mr. Cai P. However, due to budget constraints and my laziness, some (less important) illustrations in the new version were made using AI, mainly various event illustrations and backgrounds.
