A medieval city under siege and a handful of civilians are all that keep the walls from falling. Mixing survival strategy and resource management, build your camp, craft supplies, and scavenge the occupied city to supply the last troops holding back the invaders.
Greetings Survivors!
Those ware very busy weeks for Siege Survival crew. We were mentioned on prestige gaming industry events, like in Digital Dragons and #PAXEGX global online events. We addressed your feedback from the Prologue and made countless improvements and bugfixes for the final game. We introduced the very last planned features, new stories and events, new playable and NPC characters, prepared new game + sandbox, cloud save system and finally – we hit 50 000 wishlists milestone!
On that occasion, I think it would be nice to give you some details about the progress we made. We are working hard on the game, and we would like to polish the game as good as we could. So, without further ado, lets jump straight to it.
New Features
First things first, we'd like to thank all our players for all the extensive feedback we've received from the Prologue! It greatly helped us to get our priorities right, and gave us the very best confidence that the last few features we're going to add are on spot.
We introduced a lot of new features to extend the gameplay possibilities of the game, as an example adding a stationary trebuchet in the castle – an endgame interactive building that will allow you to launch deadly projectiles to enemies and turn the tide. But first, you would need to do some things to bring that old war engine back to life.
You will be able to repair the trebuchet in the midgame. We want to give the player a time to learn basic game mechanics, develop the infrastructure and prepare for harder battles before the game will introduce new layers and options that extend gameplay.
And that is not all! Since the trebuchet is such a powerful weapon, using it effectively will require your best dedication in terms of the resources, time and characters management. But with what a reward! Had you prepared pots to make the base of your devastating flaming projectiles, you’re ready to venture out for the place where tar can be collected. Then, all you have to do after returning with your ammunition back to the castle is to scout enemy lines to make your trebuchet shots even more deadly… and fire at will!
Economy
The well balanced, intuitive and fair economy is crucial in such the resources and time management games as Siege Survival is. We heard your feedback: we improved and extended a huge part of the in-game economy, adjusting it to the phasing of the game as well to old and new tasks and challenges you will face during gameplay.
In the final game, it will be more player dependant how you will cover the needs of your castle crew and the Bastion. Players will be able to adjust the flexible gameplay to their demands so everyone – hardcore and casual players – will get the best game experience.
Building a harmonious and self-sufficient economic base is still a challenge, but looking at all facilities working well for the common purpose is a unique experience of its kind.
Immersion
Another aspect of the game we received a lot of feedback from you was the immersion. We want you to identify with ingame civilians and soldiers, establish a relationship with them and feel the full range of emotions while playing Siege Survival.
First, we took care of the visual and sound setting of the game. We added new tracks, sounds, made Edring City more influencing on emotions and senses. Added more fire, smoke, corpses, crows and other things that will make night scavenge more immersive, so you will feel, that those streets ran red with blood just a few days ago, citizens ran away or hid from the raiders and everyone who has left is counting on you to hold the last stand.
Another part that was reported by you was a fact, that soldiers were stationed in another part of the castle, behind another wall, behind the bridge and three gates. So, we moved the fight under your walls. Bastion is now an integral part of the castle you have as your base, and enemies are now hitting your gate. This increases the sense of responsibility and greatly helps to make you feel being under siege.
There are more changes that will help immersion, like improvement of the fighting system if you decide to take your chances in fighting one of the enemies at night, adding another type of bombardment you will need to take care off (cow corpses thrown inside the walls spreading disease!) or adding even more moral choices in the events and a lot of improvements. All these improvements add to the overall experience created by both the game's mechanics and the emotional layer.
Scenario Editor
Adjusting the game to your demands and needs using the New Game + feature is one thing, but how about the possibility of creating the entirely new and unique scenarios? How great would it be to make your events, create your characters with unique traits, have the power to change the game economy and loot, create your buildings and crafting recipes or set up the ultimate challenge for other players changing and adjusting battles difficulty?
Well, you will be able to do that thanks to the integrated scenario editor that we created and keep using while we’re creating the default scenario! It gives almost infinite options – for us, and for you! – to create new exciting stories, meet new characters and share your very own vision of the Siege Survival with everyone! The fun will be endless, and we are looking forward to seeing your ideas and dreams reforged into great mods and standalone scenarios.
What is the plan for the nearest future?
Despite our honest will to share the game with you as soon as possible, the game release may be delayed a little because of various reasons. We are a small indie studio, and we want to make Siege Survival the best possible experience for you. That is why we would like to reserve a little more time to polish and optimize the game even better before the release.
We can't stress it enough to thank you enough for your support, feedback and cheering. We are honoured to be able to create and be part of such a wonderful community.
Stay tuned and remember:
These walls will not fall!
Be sure to add the game to your Steam Wishlist!
