This particular holiday is one of the most important holidays in China but it is also celebrated worldwide in regions with a significant presence of Chinese population. Traditionally the festival was a time to honour deities as we as ancestors however the particular customs in China differ depending on the area of the country. However some of the things that are most widely popular are: 1). Clean your house with your whole family - sweep away bad and invite good fortune 2). Decorate windows and doors with red paper-cuts and couplets. 3). It's popular to have fun with firecrackers 4). Giving money in red envelopes is a traditional thing to do on that holiday Remember - red items are considered lucky - so make sure to have something red close to you on this day!
