While the shape of the island you start on remains the same, it's content changes.
Four layouts are now available, which will spice up each play through as you discover that resources and important buildings will be distributed differently.

When you are ready to venture out from your first island, and grow your settlement across floodland, you’ll discover new islands. This ruined airport above, is an example for you to colonize, discover new resources and challenges. Now all that Duty Free will finally be yours to loot :D
