Hello, crafters! How is everyone doing this summer? Or this winter, if you live in the south hemisphere? We want to reveal the next character to join Crafty Survivors this day, 30th of June, to celebrate the end of Pride Month. As a character that has been planned since the prototype of the game, this one is joining exactly at the time planned, before we decided to increase the roster from the initial 10 characters planned. I think I will let you all guess which of the current 10 characters (minus this one of course) was planned AFTER the 10 from our original idea in the prototype (I might reveal this later if you all want). Only one of them. All the next characters were planned later, based on the initial response from players and content creators that engaged with the game. To start the information of the next character, we would like to introduce everyone to the wife of our dear Seamstress Sewvia. A character that has been mentioned multiple times on letters and news in-game! Meet:
Jewellia, the Jeweller
As I mentioned above, Jewellia has been planned since the beginning of the game's concept to join the roster as the last character to unlock. The idea to talk about the relationships between characters in the Village began with her and her wife Sewvia, just as an internal setup for how each character is, their behaviour and personalities, and how they would be, which would help design their sprites, portraits and some of their animations. It was a long time after this that we decided to implement the Mail System to actually tell the lore behind Crafty Survivors. But enough of that! Let's discuss a bit about her mechanics! Jewellia is the another character with a ranged basic attack, being able to fight enemies from a safe distance. Her attack pierce through enemies, enabling her to hit multiple targets in a single hit. Some of her skills will interact with her basic attack in unique ways, allowing her to cover bigger areas in a fight. The Jeweller will bring a dazzling performance to the arena with her skills. Different from all the other characters, Jewellia will also have a special mechanic in her dodge ability. When acquiring an upgrade for her dodge, players will be able to leave an illusory copy of her behind and reactivate the dodge within a timeframe to return to the initial position, giving her more mobility in the battlefield! We are still working on developing this mechanic and its implications in her playstyle, so more information will come later with her release! Get ready for some Gems and Jewels as the Jeweller reunites with her wife and neighbours to protect their Village and fight the pesky Malignants! The Jeweller will share a house with the Seamstress, as it should be, there's no denying that! The Jewellery Shop will be attached to the side of the Tailor Shop and work independently in being upgraded through the Village, but they will be visually the same place. Initially, this shop will only unlock the latest character, as we are still designing what could possibly be a system for it, if there's one we can get for the Jewellery Shop. More information will come in the future, of course, so keep an eye on it. With the release of Jewellia and her addition to the roster, another material will be made available in the Cavern, the Bone, allowing players to further improve the buildings in the Village. New Challenges in the area as players delve deeper into the tunnels of the Cavern to find the source of the Curse and what is causing all the problems. Who is looking forward to meet the Jeweller? Thank you all again for being a part of this journey with us and playing Crafty Survivors. And we finally got to 500 reviews! Thank you for everyone who left a review to our game and helped us get here. It's a wild journey! Thank you all!!
