One of the most important parts of Vernal's kit is her ability to cast SPELLS. These are found throughout the game in disks, and help you define your playstyle as well as stay alive. But pick carefully, you only have four potential slots to fill at any given time. Here, you can set any spell to one of four different directional inputs.
