Vernal Edge is a 2D action-packed Metroidvania featuring an intense combat system, tight platforming sequences and a powerful story of rivalry, revenge and growth.
Remember what we said last time? We take steps to combat this and make players close to the skill floor of the game still feel like they can fight stylishly. Let's break down one of those steps:
One step we've taken to encourage more stylish play is providing a mechanical incentive to juggle enemies. Assuming you know how to stun an enemy in Vernal Edge (you can play the demo for free if you don't know), then you have likely seen that enemies will recover from their stun after a short period of time. Observant players will quickly notice that enemies recover from stuns more quickly when left on the ground, and subsequently recover more slowly when in the air. This is to encourage players to juggle enemies, since keeping an enemy in the air keeps them from attacking you, allowing you to deal damage more safely.

We've taken additional steps as well; like launching enemies into each other, Charged Attacks being useful for stunning enemies, everything about Pulse, etc. The end result is a fun combat loop where you consistently have reasons to try different moves and make creative choices while fighting. If you want to give it a try now, there is a free demo available, and you can look forward to the full version of Vernal Edge releasing in the next few months!
