Back again I see, for a final glimpse as the Abysm gapes its last breath...
Hey cherubs. This is the final Early Access content update before Spirits Abyss unseals its shackles and will release from Early Access next Thursday (Aug 27th). I'll still be doing some tinkering until the release so if you have any bug reports, feedback, etc, then let me know in the forums. :]
A new unlockable region has been added called The Sullenwoods. There hanged haunts and flesh ghouls roam the barrows. It's quite easy to unlock as it's intended as more of an introduction into how the region unlock system works. There's also a new achievement for unlocking it.
The 2 player Co-Op health system has been changed. Now the twin is basically immortal so won't take off health from the main player, but if he's hurt then he crumbles into a bone pile and must be revived by the main player by simply moving into him.
There's some new meanies to contend with...
- 5 new elite enemies have been added who are rather a bit more dangerous than the regular enemies. The chance of them showing up is based on the game mode to make each mode feel a bit more different. For example, in the Pilgrimage they'll always show up in addition to the regular enemies, but in an Adventure have a low chance of appearing instead of a regular enemy. They won't show at all in a Hunt.
- The Ashen Palace has an easier variant which has a chance of showing if you're still early in the run. A new enemy called the Necarch will have made its home their instead of the Wraiths. There's also a new enemy called the Ash Husk who will appear in the stage irrespective of the variant. A variant of the Necarch also has a chance of appearing in the Spooker's Reckoning instead of the usual gang of spooks as an extra challenge late on.
- 2 new enemies have also been added, one in the Sanguine Mechanius (Blood Boil) and one in the Death's Tithe (Coin Watcher) just to add a bit more variety.
10 new special rooms have been added, intended to just add some more variety in the stages. Ranging from teleporters, water wells, the Abysmletto slots machine and return of the poor banged up Pauper pincher.
6 new items have been added to round out the total amount of items to 80: Skeleton Key, Crate Locator, Skull Familiar, Drill Fister, Snow Globe, Restless Staff.
Some Clashful Cards tinkering...
- Your current Win Streak is now saved. A menu has been added after the clash has ended so you can change game mode without forfeiting your streak.
- 6 new themes (4 affect gameplay).
- New Lightning Spell that inflicts 1-6 damage on an enemy.
- New Transmutations action that changes all your current action cards into random actions.
- 13 new fighter cards associated to the new enemies.
Some Blood Moon Trials changes...
- 9 new trials added including no-hurty Undying boss trials.
- The Grimoire Compendium now has stats for this game mode.
- The choose trial menu icons will now be a different colour if a trial is complete but not by the current Clan.
Some Soul Survivor changes...
- Added 6 new meanies into the enemy pool.
- Added 4 new items into the item pool.
Some Cabins Reminiscel changes...
- Compendium: Replaced the Realmic Nodes stat with Special Secrets which includes all the Cabin mode hub unlockables.
- After playing your first Mirrored Abysm a sign appears outside the mirror cave entrance that shows the Cabin mode stats.
- Forest Shop: You now can't buy duplicate gear.
And some various other stuff...
- Settings: Added a "Right Stick Attack" control option in which case the gamepad's right analogue stick is used for both aiming and attacking.
- Settings - CRT Screen: Added a "light" option which reduces the screen distortion in particular (to reduce motion sickness).
- Added a small deadzone to the gamepad analogue sticks to help prevent stick drift.
- The game will auto-pause if the gamepad is disconnected or loses power and gameplay was happening.
- Added Cursed Chests: They have an extra chance of being booby trapped or containing curse coloured items.
- Hushed Monastery: Giving the fatso enough bombs makes his tummy go boomy.
- Seraphus Feather: You can now carry up to 3, each conferring an extra air-jump.
- Soulic Jewel: There's now a chance it may not crack if you were hurt by a low damage hit. They now auto-sell if carried to a boss.
- Puzzle Box: There's now a small chance the Box won't have an item that stage (the chance is increased a bit based on how many items you've had from it). If you already have a fair amount of bombs then the Box will have a very low chance of giving you any bombs.
- Cutty Cutlery: The chance of you gaining extra hearts/bombs is now also based on how many you already have (e.g. having a lot of bombs reduces the chance of getting more).
- Confession Kapala/Collection Bowl: Slightly decreased how often you receive hearts.
- Flesh Warden: They now have a magic attack if they can see you but can't reach you with their regular club attack.
- Gnatty: Added Cursed and Hot variants.
- Bounty Hunters now have a chance of being sleepy.
- Regionals Juncture: There's now a chance of a doorway being blocked (a handy bomb will do the trick). The chosen region is now independent of the normal way regions are chosen code-wise (so it's now possible to visit the same alternate region more than once).
- Some regions have an increased chance of having certain special rooms that suite their theme (e.g. Sanguine Mechanius has a good chance of having machine related special rooms).
- Special room - Wizard Trick: Offering a curse coloured item makes him auto-fail his spell.
- Special room - Cursed Vault: The chest now also contains a curse coloured item.
- Special room - Item Refiner: Refining a cursed coloured item will make it auto-explode with an even bigger boom. Added a cap of 10k gold, after which it auto-explodes.
- Special room - Chests Gamble: Added a star prize (a Soulic Jewel) and slightly increased chance of winning.
- Fate's Hallway: Added some walled-off chest rooms and spruced up the background.
- Crossings Shrine: Added a couple of chests at the top.
- Angry shopkeepers and mercenaries will now suffer damage from hazards (e.g. big saw blades).
- The big falling icicles (usually found in Frostal Fields) can now hurt enemies.
- Quite a bunch of bug fixes and other minor bits and bobs.
Enjoy! :]
