Welcome in our new (fictional) testimony!
Story #6: Athlete who suffered a heart attack
"The expression “put your heart into what you’re doing” really was applicable in my case. We associate the heart with the love we might feel for those close to us, or the activities we dedicate ourselves to. But it’s also a muscle, and the most important one of all. It’s a pump feeding our body to keep it alive. Yet as important as it might be, we don’t really know it very well. Maybe that’s because we can’t see it, although we can hear it and I regret not listening to mine more closely. My physical appearance and performance are hella important to me. When I go to work out, my heart steps up to endure the enormous demand I put on it, just as much as for all the love I have for my discipline! I know the symptoms, even though they vary from person to person. So naturally, when I felt dizzy, like I was walking on cotton wool, I called an ambulance myself. They impressed me with how smoothly they took action, but also because they managed to find the words to calm me down to prevent the situation from getting worse. Now when I listen to my heart, it tells me that everything’s going fine, although I’ve had to adapt my workouts to their limits so that I can keep doing what I love."
