Post Launch News + Multiplayer + Modding + Future Plans

Pumpkin Days

Pumpkin Days is a traditional farming RPG. Pick one of three towns to start your farming adventure. Farm, fish, mine, catch bugs, raise animals, and more. Help fill out the museum to stop a factory from being built on the island. Unless you wish to side with the factory. The choice is yours.

TLDR: Launch went well, modding is happening, multiplayer has issues we can't fix at this time usually restarting fixes the issues. We're still going to be patching the game and looking at suggestions for the next few months. Summary We were really nervous, but it looks like the final launch of Pumpkin Days has been going really well. There have been a few bugs, which is expected, but thankfully nothing horribly game-breaking and we'll be patching in some of the fixes later in a small patch. I'm really happy everyone has been having fun and is enjoying the game. We would not have gotten this far without the community that has been supporting us throughout early access. Especially the bug-reporting. I can't stress how important and grateful we are to those who report bugs. We're a small team of two and with the scope of Pumpkin Days it's impossible for us to test every aspect of the game. A Few Issues and suggestions So there are two issues that are dragging down the game, which we can't do much about at this time. The first being the movement. Despite our best efforts we still are getting complaints and negative reviews on the frustrations with the controls. That is too bad, but understandable. We designed the movement poorly from the beginning and we can't simply change it at this point without breaking other parts of the game. My best suggestions are trying out the 'move with mouse' in the settings, or playing with a controller which I have heard some players prefer. Again I apologize for this inconvenience. The other issue is multiplayer. As of now, it seems like most players can enjoy multiplayer without game-breaking issues. However, for some players, there have been problems playing with friends. Many of the bugs being reported are more of an optimization issue. So reports of rubberbanding, player body parts lagging behind, spawning into a game with the camera inside the character. These are all inconsistent bugs related to latency and some of these reports we've never experienced first hand as developers despite testing playing multiplayer multiple times. It doesn't mean that multiplayer is completely broken, but it's not perfect either. The Pumpkin Days multiplayer experience is going to depend on the player's internet connection, and whether or not there are hiccups in the transmission of data over their networks. It's a bit annoying, but exiting the game usually corrects most issues, so please try that before giving up on multiplayer. Sorry again for that inconvenience Modding This has been highly suggested, so we are looking into adding modding to the game. Expect some kind of modding capabilities for most of the strings in the game later this month. We can't promise anything specifically that players can mod, since this is unknown territory for us, but we'll see what we can do. Just know that you are modding at your own risk and we're not responsible if you mess with some settings that completely break your game. We're simply setting up a system where players can edit and in some cases add data. We'll reveal more information about that later. If you have suggestions or ideas for that please let us know on Discord. Future plans It's been a long 7 years of working on this game, so we've been taking it easy this month. But we're going to read through player suggestions and see if there is anything that is simple for us to add at this time. We plan to keep an eye on Pumpkin Days and patch the game with bugs fixes for the next few months. If you want to follow our development or have questions you can always reach out to us on Discord. We're a small game dev studio so, again, if you want to reach out to any of the devs you can talk to us directly at any time :) We're friendly I promise and always happy to help and listen to the community. Thank you everyone for your support!
