November 27, 2024 Developer’s Notes

Developer’s Notes With the launch of the official season, Return Alive has completed the first patch. We have tried to reflect player opinion as much as possible and will continue to try our best to do so in the future. Continuing on from the previous Developer’s Notes, we would like to share the decisions we have gone through based on player opinion and feedback. 1. Focus on PVP Return Alive puts an emphasis on PVP battle. Therefore, Return Alive has been aiming to provide fun through player competition. However, we also do take note that there are players who has a love for PVE content. There will be ‘Rush Battleground’ and New Battleground ‘Taskan’ for those who prefer PVE so that PVE and PVP players can all have fun. Please keep up with our news for details on future contents. 2. Opinions on Unlocking Battleground We have decided to take player opinions and allow players to enter Battleground without playing any matches. 3. Opinion on the Deletion of Roll Return Alive believes that decision and strategy is more crucial than gameplay controls of an individual. Therefore, we believe that most important part of gameplay is to use the walls and bushes strategically to react and interact with other players. If rolling gives great advantage in dodging enemy attacks, we believe that levelling doesn’t feel as rewarding since people can simply roll to dodge attacks. Also, dodging easily will cause players to not take note of the weapons and movements of their enemies and focus more on dodging rather than actual offensive play. This will cause the game to all revolve around rolling and dodging, which we believe as too shallow in terms of gameplay. In order to improve this issue, we have removed rolling after great consideration. 4. Slow Combat Tempo Return Alive serves to improve the fun in gameplay through reactions. In order to react to enemy attacks, players must realize where the trajectory is coming from to dodge or block. We have adjusted movement speed and attack speed to meet the reaction time for such gameplay. Faster combat tempo would mean less time to react and more things happening simultaneously. We have made this development choice to give players room for more options in gameplay. However, we do recognize that many players feel uncomfortable with the movement speed, so we plan to make improvements on this system in the future. We will continue to strive to improve the gameplay. 5. Additional Improvements to Combat and Weapon Many players have sent us opinions and feedback on the delay in use of weapons, spin speed, and aim changes. The delay in the use of weapon is applied to all players equally, and develop their own skills in combat. For non-swappable weapons like Bombardment Launcher, we have updated the bullets so that each bullet will be fired at the aim through the update on November 20th. We will continue to adjust the weapon balance and will improve weapons that players find problematic. Please continue to provide us with opinions and feedback. 6. Problems with Bots in PVP Modes We are trying to increase the player pool and also at the same time, to improve bots. We will also introduce a new mode where players can go into without waiting for other players. Players can enter at any size to contest their luck and skill with each other. We are also looking more into party play and will come up with events regarding multiplayer gameplay. Please continue to watch out for future announcements for more information. 7. Player Party Matchmaking Improvements The dev team has had the same concerns as the players. The dev team is looking into giving players the option of either getting matched with bots or other players. We will bring this system in within the first quarter of 2025 at the latest. 8. Accumulated Commission Point Improvements There have been some requests on capping Commission Point for players who have already completed all commissions. We have left this part out for now since we will continue to update weapons in the future, but we will think about how we will handle this to help players gain commission points for other characters as well. 9. Request to add Steam Achievements To answer this request, we will be adding Steam Achievements within the first quarter of 2025. Finally, we’d like to thank Xylon, empdavid, 7LA4D, Hurtbringer, Merkabich, EvilTwin, RadeonProVega, and many other players who have given us player opinion and feedback. The Return Alive team will strive to create a better game experience. Thank you.
