Neyyah is a first-person point-and-click adventure game from Defy Reality Entertainment. You are thrown into a strange secretive world called Neyyah. Use careful observation and logic to uncover the mysteries entwined within Neyyah's peculiar landscapes and bizarre cultures.
Hello Neyyah adventurers! It's been a good while! I have been meaning to get some sort of update up on Steam for a while now, but being the sole developer of Neyyah, I'm swapping all sorts of hats. It's a very busy time for Neyyah!
And it HAS been a very busy time of late!

Neyyah consists of a massive variety of exterior and interior sets, all of which I build / design myself in Blender. Before the 3D gets attention, sketches are created to map out the basic outline of anything which goes into the game world, whether that's the shape / form of a tower, a door ... or a machine, a device which the player will interact with ...
... Or in some cases ...

A window into another room!
The main emphasis in Neyyah's development right now is finishing off exterior and interior locations. I am really excited when I see these places come together, not only in the rendering process (pixel by pixel, viewports in Neyyah's world blossoming to life on the screen ...) While rendering takes place, open gl renders fill in the spaces for Visionaire Studio 5!
I call it the Colour Box phase. Not only do animations go through this, while they render the numerous frames - some being a lot smaller sequences than others (a lever / button only requiring ten frames, while a Journey Mode animation perhaps ranging from an average range of 150-250 frames), but getting the main scenes into the game in this style enables me to much faster get everything running as a game!

I now run a third system (an AMD Ryzen 9 8-core laptop with 32gb RAM) to get through the massive amount of prerendered graphics needed for Neyyah's world to come to life - whether that's the still navigation scenes, or the animations. Water animations are also extracted from the rendered scenes - and there's a good few of those still needed to get done!

While I am busy with environment and engine work, I have also been working alongside another Visionairian, Lee Clark of AFRL, who has managed to bring a new lease of life to Neyyah's menus - particularly the Load / Save menu! It now works much better, along with a new design!

New Load / Save menu, which contains unlimited save slots! - allowing you to save often, and wherever you want to within the game (apart from during animations ;))
Lee is amazing at working within Visionaire Studio 5, and has definitely helped push Neyyah in a stronger direction, with more work coming up soon regarding inventory systems!
Check out Lee's website here - https://afrl.me/ Neyyah sits proudly in his portfolio of many other cool game projects he is associated with!

As well as menu developments within Neyyah, controls have also been adjusted - there are now 11 hotkeys for Neyyah, getting you to various areas of Neyyah faster, including Quick Save (F5) and Quick Load (F9 double tap). When you quit Neyyah, there is also an autosave generated, which can be played with the CONTINUE option on the Load / Save Menu. This will most likely be available on the start menu of the game, too!

Feast your eyes on Neyyah's controls - including hotkeys! You can also adjust the way animations are presented within the game, whether you want to hide the SKIP ANIMATION CURSOR when they play. (The left mouse button click to skip any animation within the game will still work).
I might present this in a slightly different way for the final release, but so far, so good!
Regards Faster Travel in Neyyah, you can press F to enable and disable this feature wherever you are in the game, so getting around faster within Neyyah (if you're in a hurry!) is quick and easy. Find out more about Faster Travel here:

So, another cool thing landed in the world of Neyyah. Fell from a portal somewhere ... and exploded! Giving new life and energy to the game world!

Screen Australia are now funding Neyyah!
This is an INCREDIBLE opportunity! I'm so excited for the work ahead alongside Screen Australia. While Neyyah did fantastically, Nanci Nott (creative director) also assisted massively in making this a reality, helping to mould a fantastic application to push Neyyah through that Screen Australia portal! I also want to thank the rest of the Defy Reality Entertainment team for the work you have put into the game so far, and the continued work ahead! Very excited for this! The funds will help bring life to the live action sequences of the game, bringing real life characters into the Neyyah world!

There's a lot happening in the developing world of Neyyah! I am looking forward to eventually releasing a demo, which will deliver a taste of what this world has to offer! This will be announced in due time (along with a release date, eventually!). While there is a deadline set for the game, I am not announcing anything just yet, and will only leave this update to say Neyyah will excite, delight and mesmerise your adventuring sensors!
