With our first update of the new year and the new decade, we're excited to bring you some new and updated features to improve your experience in Nanome.
Clashes Visualization
This newly added atom contact computation allows you to visibly see clashes between atoms and molecules. From the Modify Menu, click on the Compute tab, and then “Calculate Clashes”. In both the Calculate Clashes settings menu and the MedChem tool, users can enable clashes to run continuously in order to get live feedback when interacting with a structure. You can also change the Overlap Tolerance for clashes.

Brand New: Sequence Menu
Check out our brand new Sequence Menu, where you can view protein sequences. Additionally, you also have the ability to perform pairwise sequence alignments from this menu. The Sequence Menu also communicates with the selected structure, so you can highlight specific residues directly from the menu.

Chain and Residue Viewing Toggle
You no longer need to physically select the chain or residue in order to view or hide it! Simply toggle the visibility in the Hierarchy Menu.

Usage Indicator for Oculus Quest
We know that the computational power on the Oculus Quest is limited (compared to the desktop powered headsets) so we have included a new usage indicator to help keep you aware of how to keep the workspace light and fast. When a Quest user joins a room the indicator appears over your Entry Menu. From there, you can understand how close you are getting to the Oculus Quest’s rendering limit and can adjust accordingly.
Other Updates
You can now view the Solvent Accessible Surface with a new numerical surface computation in the Action Menu. Go to “Display/Styles”, then “Surface Style”, and finally “Show SAS”.

Additionally, volumetric maps can now be merged with molecules. Select your structure with any maps such as Electron Density Maps, then head over to the Modify Menu, and under the “Edit” tab click on “Combine”.
