If you've played the Steam Game Festival demo, you've no doubt seen the new Quazadrome arena in action. Here's a look behind the scenes on how is was designed. First, sketches were produced to capture the 1950s retro-robotics theme we were after: Sketches of the spinning droids which feature in the gameplay were also produced: Next, colour drafts of the arena were produced: Then, the first pass render was created: For the second pass render, we went for a darker floor: Then came the final render, with a detailed lighting pass: Aside from the spinning droids, gameplay contraptions in Quazadrome include speed strips and gravity spots.
