Devlog: December Update

I'm sitting here now, in that weird timeless void between Christmas and New Year, when no-one knows what day it is and all the wit of man is meaningless. I'm not a big Christmas fan, and I totally acknowledge that many people find Christmas to be a difficult time of year. Usually Christmas gives me a good break and the opportunity to get some work done, but this year I've only had a few days off - and those have been with family. So it's been another tough month and I haven't been able to get much time together to work on the project. Rinse. Repeat. I know. The biggest thing to report for the month is to follow up on animation. And, um, it's not going well. There is plenty of hope and optimism there, but sadly the guy I've been working with isn't working out. He's a talented coder and I have plenty of uses for that - but when it comes to animation we're not quite on the same wavelength. These things happen. It's really hard to recruit the right people for the right job, and this just didn't quite work out as I hoped it would. No hard feelings on either side (none on mine, anyway). You might be shocked to hear how many artists I've collaborated with on the project, by the way. I think I have 8 artists with art in the game right now. But I've worked with many many more - contributors whose art is either no longer in the current build (as a result of a major style change), or those whose work or attitude just wasn't what I needed. Anyway. I'm still optimistic that I can put together a really nice animation test for January - so let's see how that goes. I have had some new art and some amazing voicework come in but I'm not ready to talk about those yet. I'll say more when I prepare a concentrated marketing push a head of Early Access. Right now I'm keeping a bit of a low profile. And to set expectations, I'm afraid January will be another lean month. But in February/March I expect to be able to commit two or three days a week - and then we'll see things more a lot quicker. Let's see - I had hoped to say that of January. Nothing is certain. Anyway - happy new year to you all. I hope you all get a bit of time off to do whatever it is you like to do, and I hope you find some good porn to keep you company. See you in January. Cisco
