Development Update February 2022

Hey puzzlers, and again the month is coming to an end, which means for us: time for the next update on the game progress of [i]The Unbeatable Path[/i]. In general, we have made quite a bit of progress with development in February. The code was optimized and centralized, a new puzzle was implemented, more motion capture sessions including face capture and a voice acting session were done. We also reached a big milestone and are happy to announce that we have completed about 50% of the total game development. [h1]Project Progress[/h1] [list] [*][b]Motion Capture Sessions:[/b] Some scenes were shot with our motion capturing system, which we were still missing for the existing levels. Each level now has an intro where a demon roughly explains to the player how to solve the next puzzle. For this, the animations were recorded and implemented via motion capturing. [*][b]Update of existing animations with face capturing:[/b] Our existing animations were extended with facial animations. For this, we use a system just like motion capturing to record the facial animations and transfer them to the character. This has now been done for all existing animations and was integrated into the game. [*][b]Voice Acting Session:[/b] There were still some voice recordings of the demons missing in the game. These were recorded in a voice acting session and also already implemented in the game. [*][b]Another map "Tower of Choices" completed:[/b] With the level "Tower of Choices" the following puzzle to the level "Enigma Hall" (working title before: "Hallways") was completed. This is again different from other puzzles in the game, as the player must act very quickly here to solve the puzzle. With this level, the player also completes half of the entire game. [*][b]Code/script optimizations:[/b] At many points in the game we always fall back on the same functions. So far, these have been implemented in every file as good as new. To keep the code and the Unreal Engine Blueprint Scripting clearer and simpler, the functions have now been optimized so that we maintain them in a central location and now only have to call them where they are needed.
