Check out Moons Of Darsalon! Another game with a crazy passionate developer, 8 years in the making. Visually it's a beautiful 2d platformer with a blend of 2d and 3d yet somehow maintaining a really cool retro aesthetic. (I wonder if they ever ran into Zapling?) It has really fun physics and shooting too as well as the ability to manipulate terrain.
