Hello everyone and welcome back to a new devlog for Borneo: A Jungle Nightmare. Work continues non-stop and today we want to take you into one of the very first Memories you will play in Borneo. You may have noticed in the past that some of the illustrations showed our characters sitting in a jeep, heading off to who knows where. Now, take a look at the scene below See anything? It's actually the same jeep our characters were travelling in! But why have they stopped? What do the people in the background seem to want? And why is there a dead body in the river?! Let's go in order and try to think about it together. The first thing that catches the eye is undoubtedly the body of the man in the water. Observing it, we realise that the man was stuck by a tree trunk that hit him on the back, so to rescue him we will first have to take care of removing that big tree trunk, without risking to be dragged by the river flow. Maybe the jeep has something we can use to remove the trunk from there? As we look at the car, we can see that there's a winch that could do the trick. Using it on the trunk will activate a section of gameplay with button mash mechanics, necessary to create the connection between the jeep and the trunk. But in order to use the winch, we need to move the jeep which, at a quick glance, doesn't look very good. The front ventilation grid is broken and is also covered in what appears to be blood. The doubt of having run over something becomes a certainty when we decide to open the jeep's bonnet, to understand why the off-road vehicle does not start. After understanding how to restart the car - we won't go into details so as not to spoil your pleasure of discovery - we will have to free the wheels of the jeep from the muddy ground. To do this, a new section of the button mash gameplay will be activated, which is useful for this purpose. As you may have noticed from this dive into this memory, in BORNEO: A Jungle Nightmare the goal is to create a classic point-and-click experience combined with mechanics that are a bit more frantic and able to increase the tension in some specific parts of the game. And, to end our devlog, once the car is freed we can finally rescue the corpse from the river to find out who it is. But that is a whole different story...
