The Downfall, Untergang or Thirty Seconds’ War…
Today we thought we shed some light on what actually happened to the world that was. So let’s dive into the post-apocalypse, or rather, the actual apocalypse. For the people of the Dreadlands, it’s known as the Downfall, or the Untergang, depending on culture and personal preference Dreadlands is a region known as a unique and wondrously weird place. Quite impressive, considering this world is no stranger to strangeness, still suffering from the drastic effects of the Downfall. Yes, that’s our big ol’ civilization finisher, an Intersolar, free for all, massive shootout. Everyone was lobbing asteroids, nukes, hyper-kinetics, and exotic, experimental weapons, at everyone. Satellites came crashing down, the world opened up and somehow the weird resource known as Glow started to form underneath what is now called Dreadlands. No one knows what actually happened for it to manifest itself. The why and the how, the root and the key to everything Dreadlands is Glow, a material with wondrous, borderline magical properties. Glow has influenced the shape of the land and is the base of the entire economy of the region. It’s unique to the area and the demand is high, so there’s big money to be made. However, competition is fierce, and the Dreadlands will never be a hospitable, welcoming land.
