Hey there, film enthusiasts!
Firstly we want to thank everyone for taking the time to play our demo of Blockbuster Inc. If you haven’t had the chance to play it yet, make sure to grab it while it’s still available! Releasing the demo has been greatly helpful to us in understanding your wants and needs as players and getting to know people in the community a little bit better. While the demo may not be over yet, we decided to sit down and review the feedback from those who took the time to send some in.

While going through the feedback from the demo, one of the many vital takeaways was regarding the tutorial. Several people mentioned some issues: figuring out what to do, how to rotate items, etc. Already, we have made plans to make it smoother for the beginning of the game and add more tutorial tips on how to do things based on the notes taken. Doing this will also help speed up the early game and help players move on to making movies faster rather than spending so much time trying to figure out the basics. Another part of the tutorial mentioned as an area to be improved was explaining more in-depth mechanics as you advance in the gameplay, which the team will watch.

Another subject we want to talk about is the Direct Scene feature. While being its first version released for the demo, with the help of your feedback, the changes planned for it involve adding automation based on the genre for those who want to quickly run through the movie, along with some other features like potentially implementing exporting films. However, we can’t promise anything with this feature, but it’s highly requested based on the game The Movies, which is a title that the development team holds dear. Aside from that, it will be smoothed out a bit more by letting players copy the previous scene when working on the next one, and of course, with all of this, we will be adding more animations and outfits alongside more content overall.

There have been many quality-of-life suggestions that go above concrete features, especially ones involving having more transparency in the game in regards to the way the game presents information. For example, the details as to what matters, how much when it comes to film ratings, and how employees and star progressions work to make it more straightforward while playing. When reading through the feedback and talking with the community, we noticed stunt-specific sets had been mentioned to have a lot of bleed-over with the regular sets, so with this, they will be tweaked as the development goes on.

Last but not least, there have been improvements made to the scheduling and needs system. You will need to fill the needs of your employees and tend to them to ensure they’re not running on little sleep and no food. One must take care of their employees!
There is still much to be polished and worked on as we progress. The sheer volume of feedback has been tremendous and humbling, and we want everyone to know that we are listening and are always considering more changes. We appreciate everyone and their help moving forward. Stay awesome!
