Hello, world!~~ 👋
Welcome to the first post in our System Spotlight series! In this series, we'll be diving into some of the core mechanics that bring Sil and the Fading World to life.
To kick things off, let's explore one of the game's most essential systems: itemization. Sil and the Fading World features a dynamic itemization system inspired by classic ARPGs, offering players significant flexibility to shape their characters to their preferred playstyle. As with most ARPGs, gear in Sil and the Fading World is categorized by rarity, with six distinct levels:
[olist]
[*]Common
[*]Rare
[*]Epic
[*]Heirloom
[*]Legendary
[*]Pure
Common Items
Common items are the most basic tier, providing only the implicit stats specific to their item type. While simple, they form the foundation for players beginning their journey.
Rare Items
Rare items build upon common items by adding an extra layer: they come with both implicit stats and a randomly rolled suffix and prefix modifier, giving players a taste of customization and potential power.
Epic Items
Epic items always feature at least three modifiers, with an additional random affix or prefix modifier rolled when they drop. Additionally, epic items have a small chance to include one of the powerful Heirloom Modifiers, making them a significant step up in flexibility.
Heirloom Items
Heirloom items are unique and come with their own icon, name, and a distinct heirloom modifier. Alongside this predefined modifier, they roll with two random prefixes, two random suffixes, and an extra random heirloom modifier, offering a high level of customization and uniqueness.
Legendary Items
Legendary items contain unique modifiers that are exclusive to one legendary item in the game, providing effects that can dramatically impact gameplay. For example, a legendary modifier might convert Movement Speed buffs into damage boosts, unlocking new build possibilities. Legendary items also come with five random prefix and suffix modifiers, plus one random Heirloom Modifier.
Pure Items
Pure items represent a rare and prestigious tier, only obtainable in the endgame raiding content. They are the key to creating optimal builds, acting as customizable versions of legendary and heirloom items. While they allow for extensive modification, keep in mind that Pure items are still in development and may undergo further changes.
And with that, we wrap up this sneak peek into Sil and the Fading World's itemization system! Since the game is still in development, some of the details here may evolve, but rest assured, we’ll keep everyone in the loop with any updates.
