Hey Fera faithfuls, thanks for your patience and your continued support!! After our much needed holiday break, I'm pleased to announce that our latest patch includes the much awaited Steam Deck compatibility! (please read the update notes down below)
In our original "State of Fera and our Studio" update, we discussed our "Hail Mary" plan for Fera. As of Jan 3, our base price for Fera has been switched to $9 USD. But we are not exiting out of Early Access and calling it a 1.0, we feel the state of our game isn't near what we would consider a 1.0 release yet and to do so would be disingenuous.
However, we feel $9 USD is a fair price for the 30+ hrs of gameplay that our game currently provides, some jankiness not wishstanding. Our team is quite thrilled to see a rise in positive reviews for our game since we lowered the price point. Please write a review if you enjoyed the game, it really helps us and our dream is to get out of the MIXED rating.
As for further development of Fera, we are solely dependent on the incoming Steam revenue to fund it.

What the image shows is the full Lifetime Steam Revenue for Fera to date. Our share of that was $36K, we used up most of it for the patches leading up to the this latest one. We'll let the revenue collect up a bit while we finish up some milestones for our next project (which is the crucial thing with funding that allows to continue as a studio) but we hope to be able to get some more development resources on it if revenues build up enough by March/April.
In the meantime, please enjoy the latest update, we will keep you posted if any big JUMPS in revenue will allow us to pursue development sooner.
Thanks again for your continued support and warm wishes, we feel like we have the best of the Steam community with us on this journey.
With love,
The Massive Damage Team
0.7.1.0 - Steam Deck Compatibility is Here!
We’ve been hard at work optimizing Fera to lower the minimum specs and make it playable on Steam Deck! Steam Deck support has been the number one thing we've been asked about throughout development, so we're excited to make it official!
That being said, to get consistent 30 FPS on the Steam Deck, you’ll need to adjust some settings. Here’s what we recommend:
Upscaling Method: AMD FSR 3
Quality Mode: Ultra Performance
Quality Level: Medium
Also, you'll want to make sure your Steam Deck has the latest OS update.
As part of this effort, we’ve enhanced the visuals for Medium settings while also sneaking in some improvements to the High settings, in addition to other optimizations. For those details, check out the notes below.
Thank you for your continued support, and happy holidays from the Fera team!
STEAM DECK COMPATIBILITY
1.1 Fera is now fully playable on Steam Deck! This update includes key optimizations (see below) as well as adjustments to non-gameplay features, such as the addition of virtual keyboard support and layout changes designed to suit Steam Deck’s hardware.
OPTIMIZATIONS
2.1 Foliage scalability settings have been enhanced to provide deeper performance savings, particularly on low and medium settings.
2.2 Selective optimizations have been applied to Lumen and Nanite, reducing their performance impact while maintaining high visual fidelity.
2.3 Better use of distance-based World Position Offset (WPO) phasing has been implemented across world assets, improving performance in larger environments while preserving detail. (edited)
