Greetings, Ellarians!
We've compiled a list of questions about our history and about our future plans. Have fun!
Q: Now that Legends of Ellaria is in full release, will the development continue.
A: Yes, it will. We are constantly working on improving and optimizing the game mechanics to run faster and with as few bugs as possible. In addition, we're working on some extra features and DLC's. One of which is the long awaited Necromancer DLC.
Q: Will you improve or change the game's main mechanics, such as the combat system or real-time strategy?
A: We're not planning to make any drastic changes beyond optimisations and tweaks to any main mechanics. We're flattered that our combat system and other mechanics were compared to AAA games, but we're a small team and our concept to link first person mechanics to real-time strategy and kingdom management mechanics together in a single game has its limitations. We are personally happy with the results and with the gameplay, as it exceeded our expectations.
Q: What inspired Legends of Ellaria's main story?
A: The concept was written a long time ago, during Legends of Ellaria's basic design. We drew a storyboard that spanned between several chapters. The initial story was comic, along with some story driven twists, such as a quest to defeat a monster to ally yourself with your neighbors, only to find out that the beast is a peaceful, huge creature that just misunderstood your neighbor's intention. We later changed the main story to be more serious, as it would miss out on the fantasy and lore aspects if it was too comic.
Because of our main story's complexity and multiple locations, we were worried that we wouldn't be able to design all the locations that you go through. However, we managed to add Marra, Greenside, the northerners' lands, the ancient beast, Arag's castle, the dark one's realms, and the Aunaloth monster through the four chapters in the final release. We were happy with the results and with the different atmospheres and location designs.
Q: There were talks about other features, such as siege weapons, races, etc. Where do we stand on that?
A: Our goal was to build the core of Legends of Ellaria and advance with our community's feedback. We learned which features were more important than the other through our community posts and votes and made a list of planned features by priority. Unfortunately, we couldn't add all these planned features.
Some of these features are the siege weapons feature and horses, which were added to a beta version in the legacy but were later removed because of technical limitations or game-breaking mechanics. Others were unique races, such as dwarves, which were too time-consuming to add. On the other hand, we managed to add features which we didn't think we'll be able to add, such as the three mage classes, multiple dimensions, and more.
We are now planning to add some of these features through DLC's, and we're currently working on the Necromancer DLC. We will try to add as many of the requested / planned features as we can.
Q: Community speaking, how did the community contribute, besides the general feedbacks?
A: Our community was the backbone of our progress from the early stage of development. We started with general community channels before we released the early access, which grew and participated over time to help us stay on the right track. Our community also participated in votes for features and priorities, as well as actual design concept votes.
Besides that, many of our members helped us with more than feedbacks. Some of them are Bardon, who helped translate much of our lore and dialogues and wrote some of Legends of Ellaria's stories. Others are Nito-Murray, who helped as a community moderator and also tested early versions before others. We also had many other volunteers who helped us test versions of the game before their official release through the beta testing program.
We want to thank our community. Your support helped us shape Legends of Ellaria.
Q: What is Larkon Studio's plans for the future ? Will there be a Legends of Ellaria 2 ? Or any other game?
A: We're looking into designing other games, including a design for Legends of Ellaria 2, set in the past during the ancients and dark ones wars. We don't have any information at this time, though.
Meanwhile, we're working on some DLC's for Legends of Ellaria, including the Necromancer DLC. We'll post more information on that in the following weeks.
That is it for today. Let us know If you have any other questions. Also, we will post another patch in the following days with some useful fixes. And again, thank you for your interest. See you in Ellaria,
Larkon Studio
