In other words, she's an absolute unit that'll make any grappler fan get hyped. Saga will be playable on the game's release on December 3rd, 2024! [h2]Lore[/h2] While a circus houses all kinds of talent, oddities, and “unique” individuals, you’d be hard pressed to find a specimen of sheer size and strength as mighty as Saga. Towering above just above anyone, Saga is known as “The Mountain of Might”, and “The Ice Giant” to the citizens that have seen her feats of strength. Despite her incredible stature, Saga is a jovial soul who wishes for nothing more than the cheer of the young audience goers and for the prosperity of her fellow adoptive circus family. She’s lost everything before, and knows how precious each of those people are. Whoever threatens that, will be in for a whole world of hurt. Saga’s physicality is all anyone needs to see to know she’s formidable in a scuffle. Her massive frame and powerlifting strength are her most important assets in any fight, usually overpowering opponents with ease, often throwing them about like rag-dolls. She even sports huge arm weights around her wrists so she’s perpetually maintaining “the pump”. You certainly don’t want to be on the receiving end of those giant mittens! If she can bend steel rebar like a swizzle stick, imagine... [h2]Gameplay Summary[/h2] Saga has access to various command grabs-- ground to ground, ground to air, air to air, and even reaching across multiple lanes. She has an armored stance run, a jumping projectile (a massive weight, naturally), a sweep that pulls in opponents and a lot more than you'd normally expect from a grappler. In true Diesel Legacy spirit, no inputs are too complicated. All moves can be executed with either a quarter-circle motion (except for one charge motion). In this quick character breakdown, we're going to go over SOME of her more notable moves. [h3]Normal: Stake Bite[/h3] [i]cr. D[/i] [previewyoutube=yysI6Gkx81Q;leftthumb][/previewyoutube] Saga's cr. D works as a normal sweep EXCEPT for the fact that it essentially pulls in all players from more than half screen-- opponents AND teammates. Save your teammate from being combo'd or pull in opponents for a mixup. The best part? If the sweep connects, both you and your opponent recover on the same exact frame (0 on block), putting them in an even mixup. [h3]Normal: Weight Toss[/h3] [i]j. D[/i] [previewyoutube=JmtbOcovjQM;leftthumb][/previewyoutube] Saga's j.D throws a massive weight at her opponent. Think of it like an air fireball, but instead of mystic spiritual energy, it's just dropping an anvil on someone, Looney Tunes style. Mix her j.D with a super jump, and you'll be able to do crossup projectile attacks! [h3]Mechanics: Broad Tosser[/h3] [i]AB[/i] [previewyoutube=Cn58GVQkqDg;leftthumb][/previewyoutube] Saga grabs her opponent and bowls them across the screen! If they hit a wall, they'll wall splat for a follow-up combo. They can also roll into their opponent and hit them! [h3]Mechanics: Leg Day (Taunt)[/h3] [i]A+D[/i] [previewyoutube=ZCHOP0MSEzM;leftthumb][/previewyoutube] Saga pulls out a delicious piece of meat and devours it in a way that would make Joey Chestnut jealous. Successfully devouring gives Saga a very useful buff for her throws, which she can stack up to three times. The best part is that Saga's taunt is normal cancelable, which means she can safely eat canceling from her cr. D and other various moves. [h3]Special: Chump Twister[/h3] [i]QCF+AB[/i] [previewyoutube=ZfWYg28Fvlo;leftthumb][/previewyoutube] The centerpiece of any good grappler, the grounded command throw. Boasting quick startup (5 frames), massive range and savage damage-- this is what all opponents fear. If successful, Saga's command grab plants your opponent firmly in the ground, where you can follow-up with a small combo. HOWEVER, if Saga had at least one piece of meat in her belly (indicated by the glow of her bangles), Saga spends a little more time spinning her opponent around, planting them deeper inside, giving you time to link a juggle combo afterward. [h3]Special: Bally[/h3] [i]Hold Back, Forward + D[/i] [previewyoutube=-a8BUBI_ONw;leftthumb][/previewyoutube] Ready, Steady, Go. Saga charges all her inner might and lashes forward, giving her access to all her grounded normals WITH armor that will absorb everything but the strongest attacks. The best part is if she cancels out of her armored run with any normal attack, it carries the armor traits throughout that move! Saga's armored move acts similar to Dieselmech's passive armor-- standing A/B/C attacks require more hits to break it, where standing D automatically breaks it. Jumping A/B attacks require more hits to break it, but jumping C/D will automatically break it. [h3]Meltdown: Key to the Midway[/h3] [i]QCF+AC[/i] [previewyoutube=U3FDm1DawNo;leftthumb][/previewyoutube] Saga grabs not one, but TWO (or maybe more?!) opponents and takes them for a ride, planting them firmly in the ground afterwards. Not only can she multi-grab opponents, but she can grab a lane above and below her. Opponents can't escape post-flash, so if they are in range, their fate is sealed. Even more, the more meat stocks Saga has, the longer the automatic follow-up the move will be. Max out at three stocks, and you'll see what happens.
