Progress Continues!

Hey PinBuildin' dudes and dudettes! I know it has been awfully quiet here for a while but I've got my nose to the grindstone and progress on the game is steady and productive. What's with the delay? Up to the last update the game was running on Unreal Engine 5.3.2, which is a great build of UE but a lot has changed in updates to UE 5.5, including performance improvements especially relating to lighting. As PB is hugely light intensive, updating to the latest version of UE was a very important step not only for the new UE features and improvements, but also because the game needs to be continuously updated with each UE revision. This is often a very wonky endeavor (updating UE versions of a game) because there is a lot more to game dev than just coding stuff up in UE. PinBuilder is dependent on a number of critical plugins and these, too, must be updated to function on the latest UE revisions. In order to move to 5.5 I had to wait for the plugins to be updated. What's the current state of the game? As of today the game is working about 95% in UE 5.5.1. There are a few bugs that need to be ironed out and more playtesting needs to be done prior to release. In parallel with this work, I am also working on setting up a Steam Experimental version of the game which owners of the game can access to test out the latest pre-release builds if they want to. This is actually a priority at the moment, so keep an eye out for that. I will post on Steam when this happens so those of you who want to can check it out. What's next? At the moment, the latest version will have VR and Cabinet Mode disabled for the time being so as to focus energy on finalizing the core gameplay and functionality and making sure the core aspect of the game, building and playing pinball machines, works 100%. When this point is reached, my focus will turn toward VR, Cabinet Mode, user model importing, and planview/blueprint exporting of playfield layouts.
