Forward Line - Tournament Mode!

Forward Line

Forward Line is a two player, medium weight, skill-based strategy game with a World War Two theme. It features internet and hotseat multiplayer and single player against the computer.

It's been a very long time since the last update! I will try to explain my long absence. It was clear early on that Forward Line is at it's heart a competitive two player game. I worked hard to make multiplayer possible, but finding an opponent is difficult. The game needs to bring people together who want to play. However, the scope of such a project was daunting, and I had absolutely no idea how to make such a thing happen, so I had to go and learn every little thing. Here we are years later and I have this to show for it. As this is my first foray into cloud computing, it's probably riddled with bugs but I pray that what I'm trying to do here is feasible and will eventually work! The first thing you'll want to do when you enter the tournament area is to create an account. It is all based on email and password. Once you have your account, you'll want to make your general that will represent you in the community. This isn't a beauty contest, if you can deliver those war materials to the enemies of democracy, it's okay if you have a severe overbite or a lost eye or any such less than comely appearance. Before you create a tournament however, you will need to provide a medal to award the eventual winner of the tournament. You can create a new medal from scratch, or you can use one of the medals you have won previously. If you choose one of your own medals from a past win, and you win ist back again, the medal will get a 3x prestige bonus, so the risk might be worth it if you are a confident player. Medals gain prestige depending on the number of players competing for them in each tournament. As the medals are used in repeated tournaments, they will grow in prestige and become more valuable. Medals that are risked on new tournaments might also get a large prestige bonus if the risking player should win the medal back again. You might not want to risk your best medal this way, but if you have some lying around that are stagnating you might try to pump them back up to importance. To get started with the beta, right click on Forward Line in your Steam library listing, choose "Properties..." and in the BETAS menu the beta access code will be "BackwardLine". Keep in mind this is an early beta, and it might not work very well at first. The FL community here on Steam is very small still, but once I'm confident this is working I'll release it here and on Android, and the combined communities and pool of possible opponents will be much larger. Thank you for your continued interest in Forward Line. I hope you are enjoying it.
