Happy Halloween!
Welcome to another entry in the Dreamweaver’s Journal, especially spooky for this edition. Today, our focus is on Ashguard, which is the spookiest of all the areas in the Dream World.

Ashguard

Within the eerie expanse of the Nightmare realm, Ashguard looms as a perilous domain, brimming with ominous inhabitants and an unforgiving landscape. Yet, why venture into such a treacherous place? The air is thick with soot and sulphur, while the harsh, rocky foundation hosts pools of scorching lava. For Neru and her party of Dreams, Ashguard's trials must be confronted.

Among its stark realities, the cult of the Bringers of Light resides. These mysterious and dangerous practitioners delve into dark magic and occult studies, dwelling within the desolation of Ashguard. Here, the Bringers of Light conduct their rituals, many revolving around the Brilliant, known to others as a Dream Fragment. It is this very Dream Fragment that impels Neru's journey to Ashguard; she must steal it from the Bringers of Light in order to save the Dream World.

Cera

The Bringers of Light are not the sole inhabitants of Ashguard. In a remote and lonely corner of the land, Nightmare Cera has established her cottage. Finding solace in the local flora, Cera diligently tends to her garden and plants. However, one day, forces of the Bringers of Light decide to ransack her land. United against a common enemy, Cera joins your party, and together, you will set out to confront and dismantle the Bringers of Light.

Thorns

Cera, being both an archer and a green thumb, possesses a mechanic called Thorns. Thorns is a debuff that rebounds damage back to the attacker, reflecting 20% of the damage per stack. Up to 5 Thorns stacks can be applied to a unit, reflecting 100% of the incoming damage back to the attacker. Furthermore, it's possible to utilise equipment that amplifies the damage you take to reflect even more damage to your adversary. For example, Demon Guard (very spooky) augments both a unit’s STR and INT, but increases all damage dealt to the unit by 20%.

Thorn Shot

This card shoots an arrow dealing physical damage to your enemy. At the same time, it provides the casting unit with one stack of Thorns. But be careful, as this card also removes 10% of the caster’s HP.

Bloom

Convert all stacks of Thorns into stacks of Roses. A Rose stack gives a unit the ability to gain 7% of an attack's damage back as health. Like Thorns, there is a max of 5 stacks meaning you can get up to 35% percent of your damage recovered as health.

Head Shot

A ranged physical damage attack that gains a 30% chance to deal a critical hit per Rose stack. Since there is a max of 5 Rose stacks, Head Shot can have up to a 150% chance to crit!

Trick or Treat: Equipment from Ashguard

We will end off this Halloween edition of the Journal with another creepy equipment combo. Get out your garlic and wooden stakes, because the Poltergeist Plate is one frightfully haunted piece of armour. In fact, each time an ally unit plays a card, the wearer of Poltergeist Plate takes 1 damage. Sounds pretty scary to me. However, if the wearer also had Heroic Headband on, not only would look spooktacularly stylish, but they would also have a 20% chance to get a random buff everytime they took damage. So all that damage they got from Poltergeist Plate would give the unit a chance to receive a random buff!
