VerOs' corruption spreads across New Elysium!)
VerOs has become enraged by the Overlords’ continued failures and has taken matters into his own hands (read: tentacles). Strike Mantis, Volt Colossus, and Wind Magistrate fall victim to VerOs’ corruption as he unfolds his plans for New Elysium. The 0.9 Corruption Update brings a combination of content and gameplay features, including brand new Overlord encounters, new weapon variants, new gear modifiers, gear leveling, and more. tl;dr:

New corrupted overlord encounters
New corrupted weapons
New gear modifiers
New player curse debuff mechanic
Gear leveling returns through Huck's Emporium

What's New?
New Content: Corrupted Overlords When you defeat VerOs, you begin the journey to unlocking Corrupted Overlords in your subsequent runs. This adds a twist on Overlord encounters with narrative and gameplay features for players to discover. New Feature: Weapon Affixes Gear now rolls with a random unchangeable affix that affects its stats. These affixes modify a variety of weapon stats from damage, to the rate of fire, and even to the sizes of projectiles. New Feature: Corrupted Weapon Variants After defeating VerOs for the first time, all weapons have a chance to spawn with the “Corrupted” affix which greatly alters weapon properties and stats. At the time of this update, there are 15 unique corrupted weapons for you to discover, including a vibro rocket launcher variant that shoots tornadoes, and a submachine gun variant that shoots bouncing grenades. Once cursed, you can purge one stack of the curse for each encounter you clear. After defeating VerOS the first time, the Evil Oculi in the Orbital Complex will apply this debuff. This debuff can also be received from specific attacks by Corrupted Overlords. There are now 6 gear levels in total, and once you have access to the Cipher Cloud, you will be able to upgrade the gear level of your weapons and abilities by spending gold at Huck’s Emporium. Following the introduction of the Mod Extractor feature (previously Power Transfer), we received a lot of community feedback surrounding the clarity of modifier compatibility. In this update, the majority of previously incompatible mods and weapon combinations can now be combined. This will bring more fun through deeper build diversity and just a little less confusion overall.
Changelog
A full changelog will be released on September 18th, following a few final bug fixes and optimizations.
Endgame Content
Phantom Code A lot of you have been asking about endgame content - you have been heard. We have something planned to specifically address endgame difficulty and replayability, a feature we have codenamed Phantom Code. We will share these plans and so much more in a development update when the time is right.
Beta Playtest & Feedback
Your dedication, feedback, and suggestions are at the core of what we do!
