Rogues of Europa is a gothic roguelike RPG. Fight the physical and metaphysical evils brewing below the surface of a rapidly modernizing society.
The first steps in the new direction start this week.
Welcome to Wightbarrow. This will be the testing environment going forward, and the only town on the map. Again, this isn't really traditionally roguelike, but I'm just dialing things back for the purposes of testing so that something good might eventually grow out of it.

Yes, I know.
I spent the week writing out the new quest system on paper so it can be implemented. While there will be the same basic quest types, they will now have relatively different courses they can take, making them more unique. I made a system for the monster nest quests that alters four variables in a decision tree, resulting in over 30 unique looking quests, thanks to the power of, well, exponents ironically enough.
I also remembered as I was developing the quests that I wanted a tinkering system, so I will probably implement that next week. The basic idea is allowing players to create "inventions" which take special crafting ingredients and debuff or damage enemies depending on what kind of ingredients are used. Look out for more development in this area in the next week.
The testing environment will ensure that things stay relatively consistent and easy; there's no sense in walking several miles to test a quest. I will make periodic releases of the testing environment, to make sure that you all are happy with the quests and how they are conducted.
I will determine how practical it is to get them all implemented, then make an estimate of how long things will take to release an update. While the tinkering system will probably be finished next week, I really have no idea how long it will take to develop the new quest system and implement it. But I will continue to release (mostly) weekly updates. And as always, put any prayer requests, questions, or comments you have in the comments section, or shoot me an email at roguesofeuropa@protonmail.com. I promise to check frequently!
