Rogues of Europa is a gothic roguelike RPG. Fight the physical and metaphysical evils brewing below the surface of a rapidly modernizing society.
I did in fact add some sounds this week, as well as finally adding menu music!
I also found an interesting bug which cropped up when I made it so that games could be restarted from the menu: dungeons would only generate one kind of room. This had an additional effect of crashing the game with 98.8% of the time (an actual calculation, not an exaggeration) when a dungeon was generated. I managed to fix it, but it was very confusing for a bit.
I wasn't entirely satisfied with the music bursts I had planned, so I am workshopping the idea a bit. It may be better to have atmospheric music, which will play below the sound effects layer. I may need a bit more muted (even lo-fi?) tones on the music, which is somewhat harsh sounding. The music itself seems fine, I just need to arrange it a bit more, and ensure it doesn't get too repetitive. On the plus side, I'm up to about 6 decent songs and 1 Mass setting, which should be sufficient to get the ball rolling on a music proof of concept. That might wrap up the Art Update 1 version, though as with other versions, I will have iterative changes as I continue developing.
