Daily Developer Diary for Do No Harm - Part 3
TL;DR
Manipulator Totem revamped: now rotates 3 times before locking out Laudanum. Spot Anomalies using tools & books. Miss them? Lose Sanity & face creepy hallucinations. 🕯 Keep the light on, treat patients right, and uncover the island's secrets to boost Sanity. ⚫ Stay in darkness, harm innocents, or help Cultists, and things will get... unsettling. If your Sanity hits zero, an interesting (and creepy!) ending awaits. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello everyone! This one ended up a bit too long, due to some formatting experiment I'm doing. As mentioned earlier, we’re introducing a new Anomalies and Sanity system, alongside changes to how the Manipulator Totem functions. Here’s what’s new and what to expect:
Manipulator Totem Revamp

Previously, the totem would simply rotate to warn you of the Manipulator’s visit and the hallucinations he sends.
Now, the totem acts as a dynamic mechanism with three rotations, adding a layer of challenge.
Each patient now carries a small chance of bringing an Anomaly from the void. These anomalies vary in difficulty:

Some will be obvious.
Others will be subtle, keeping you in suspense (and maybe a little paranoid).
Not every 'unconventionally' looking patient is going to be an Anomaly. Some are just born that way, you discriminating sicko!
To uncover the more elusive Anomalies, you’ll need to: [olist]
Stay vigilant, and look around the room.
Use all available tools.
Carefully consult the Book of Medicine and check your Work Table. [/olist]If you identify an Anomaly, drinking Laudanum becomes crucial:

You can now purchase up to 3 small bottles (replacing the single normal-sized bottle).
Laudanum prevents the totem from rotating or can rotate it one step back.
Consequences of Missing Anomalies If you fail to notice an Anomaly or choose not to drink Laudanum:

Your Sanity will decrease.
The totem rotates forward one step.
If the totem completes three rotations, you’ll be locked out of Laudanum for the rest of the day. This will result in your Sanity deteriorating further, making the game progressively more challenging.
The Sanity System
Sanity now plays a vital role in your gameplay experience:

Low Sanity will increase hallucinations and amplify the void’s influence on both you and the villagers.
The lower your Sanity, the more eerie and difficult the game becomes.
Should your Sanity reach zero, an interesting (but creepy!) ending awaits you. How to Manage Sanity Here are some ways to restore or deplete your Sanity: Increase Sanity:

Use a source of light (keep it on as much as possible).
Correctly treat patients.
Progress toward uncovering the island’s mysteries.
Decrease Sanity:

Stay in darkness or choose to not use the light sources.
Harm innocent patients.
Aid Cultists.
Miss or ignore anomalies.
We hope you enjoy these mechanics and the tension they bring to your journey. Stay sharp, stay sane, and keep the light burning! 🌙 Will you keep it together and Do No Harm? 👀 Let us know what you think! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Underdeveloped Twin

Flyhead
