Hello, and welcome to a combined mini announcement for Beatitas!
There have been a few additional changes made to the game, but overall, I think this may be the last update to fix any bugs or game play unless something truly game breaking comes up. It feels like it's in a good state (Although may still have some typos hiding around somewhere) and I'm pretty happy with the final result. Below are the final changes that were made.
1.) The Fortress Escape

During the escape sequence, if the fourth green switch was pressed, it caused all sorts of problems if the sequence was restarted. This is been resolved.

The initial timer has been increased from 15 minutes to 20 minutes to make it much more likely to complete the run on the first attempt.

The third directional clue is a little more on the cryptic side, but with the extra time as well as the pretty easy ability to just brute force it, it will be kept as is.

The achievement for this section has been adjusted to go from a 7 minute escape to a 12 minute escape.
2.) The Murder Game

Moved the location of one item to have it make more sense in regards to the surrounding clues and environmental interactions

The Timer for this section has been disabled. This is my favorite part of the game, and I don't want it to be ruined with a game over of any kind. While saving is disabled to keep the integrity of the puzzles in tact, a game over would truly ruin that experience. The timer is around for 1 minute as there is an achievement around that, but it is then disabled.

3.) The Final Boss

With the removal of the jarring breaks that were previously happening during the boss fights, it turned out it was possible to kill the boss before the next phases began with some properly timed buffs and skills. With this, the health of the boss doubled, but the percentage trigger to get to the next phase was halved. This means that the health remains the same effectively between phases, but it is extremely extremely unlikely that you'll be able to kill him before the phases end.

With those patch notes out of the way, I just want to say that making this game has been an absolutely awesome experience. I had a story to tell, and I got to tell it in one of my all time favorite mediums, a video game. The sales and overall community interaction is about what I expected based on my marketing, but I was just happy to finish a game I was proud of. After beating the game, it is very obvious that there is more story to tell, and after the credits roll it even tells you to save as if more content is released, you'll be able to pick up right where you left off.
Now, when it comes to games, there are two things I am not the biggest fan of... First, I am not the biggest fan of games that offer DLC because they wanted to rush a game out the door, and second, I don't like games that purposefully feel incomplete in order to tease a sequel. While I feel that this game does stand on its own in its current state and I did not rush any aspect of it (In fact the last dungeon and boss battle alone took more time than almost the first 3/4's of the game), there is clearly more story to tell.
For those who have completed the game, it is painfully obvious I am guilty of the second item, but I had no intention of ever violating the first. My initial idea for this game was to release the game, keep an eye on the game and support it as much as possible, and then expand the game in the future by building on the existing game with no extra charge to anyone, meaning it wouldn't be DLC, just more game. I have no intention of stopping support for this game, but as a solo developer, it's very difficult to justify adding content to a game with roughly 50 people playing. I don't know how many of you know this, but making games, even in RPG Maker, and even (playable) bad ones, is really hard!
I have hopes that in time, this game will reach a larger audience and more and more people will want to learn more about the story of Beatitas and where else the game can go. Even if it takes years, I don't plan to stop supporting the game. I'll still be checking on the community forums, fixing bugs, and trying to keep the current build as good as it can possibly be, just in a much more infrequent basis. Should that time ever come where support grows to a point that I can put another 1400 hours aside to put out a Chapter 2, well... let's just say I look forward to that day!
Okay, that's enough of my rambling. Thank you all, and enjoy your gaming.
