It is our conviction that in case of dissatisfaction with a studio or its products, providing a courteous and truthful review is more effective than resorting to disparaging remarks and slanderous language. It, unfortunately, has come to our knowledge that there has been a review left that, yes has the gamers opinions, which he has a right to have and share, but it also contains very abusive and slanderous language, as well as baseless accusations. We at Ascent Gaming Studios did not know such an asset pack existed until we reviewed our recent reviews. After carefully reading this user's review, we could not find any facts or evidence in the review to explain why the user believes our game is a carbon copy and thus an asset flip. Curious to see how alike our game was to the asset pack, we acquired it and looked over how it functions on the gaming level and we can say that from the outside it does appear to use many of the same systems that we use in our game, but so does a lot of other very popular games that are available on the steam platform, many of which are favorites of our crew. However, when you look at what's going on under the hood, so to speak, it begins to become quite evident that the coding and implementation could not be more different. The best way we can put it is a difference between gasoline cars and electric cars. On the outside they function practically identically, they get you from point a to point b, but under the hood the way the cars accomplish this could not be more different. We agree that there are developers out there that may be asset flipping, but writing a slanderous review with no evidence as to why the work is an asset flip does no one any help both in the player community, as well as in the developer community. Simply because a game appears to have the same functionality as other popular games and asset packs does not make those games Asset Flips. If it did, then some of the most popular games on Steam would be considered Asset Flips. We strongly believe that everyone has a right to their opinion and would never discourage a truthful and respectful review of our work, whether positive or negative. While developers prefer positive reviews, negative reviews, at least the truthful, honest, and respectful reviews, are the most helpful as they provide developers insight into how they can improve their work to meet the expectations of their audience.
