It’s fantastic to be a part of an initiative that’s showcasing and amplifying the amazing games created by people of colour around the world. Sharing your game that you love and have worked really hard on is a nerve wracking and scary feat for anyone! To be able to stand alongside similar people helps tackle those nerves and brings confidence and pride. Seeing amazing games and the creators who looked like us behind them was a really important push that helped us have the confidence to quit our jobs and become game developers full-time. If you’re currently dreaming of creating your own games, I’ll be giving a talk as part of the online Game Devs of Color Expo all about some of the things that have surprised me on my journey from hobbyist to full-time game developer.
