Hello! It's been a while since I lurked around here. I've finally decided to spice up this game a bit, as I've had plenty of free time these past months. I took a peek at the old posts in the bugs thread and fixed everything I could find. However, if you come across any inconsistencies, glitches, errors, or grammar "horrors," please feel free to report them in that same thread, and I'll look into it. Testing this version has left me somewhat exhausted (so many changes!) I've updated and added several new textures, sounds, and animations. Most levels have undergone significant improvements with new props, and in some cases, subtle structural adjustments (The Bridge level got a major makeover). So, if your game crashes or something, just hang in there and report your findings. I'll work on patching it up in the coming days. And now, without further ado, [b] here's a rundown of the changes. [/b] (Potential spoilers if you haven't played the game!) [h3]New Features: [/h3] [list] [*]Improved Resolution Support: 4K, Ultrawide, and any resolution with an aspect ratio lower than 4:1 should properly work. (no more UI scaling issues) [*]You can now adjust the Field of View (F.O.V) up to 85°. [*]Sound and Music Settings: Customize your sound and music volume. But please, don't spoil the experience. Try playing with the default settings first! [*]Frame Rate Control: The maximum non-vsync frame rate is now capped at 120 FPS. Vsync is also activated by default. [*]Enforce display resolution, frame rate, and vsync settings from a config.ini file. Useful if your monitor's native resolution isn't auto detected. [*]You can now choose whether the language selector and warning screen appear by adjusting settings in the config.ini file. [*]Items and notes now display a pickup indicator (white star) when you're near them. No more missing those hidden notes! [*]Ending sequences now boast color correction, pixelated noise animation, particle effects, God rays, fog, and some transition effects. [*]Added a subtle F.O.V. effect when the player is scared or shocked by certain events. [/list] [h3]Important Changes: [/h3] [list] [*]The old launcher options were removed, as nobody really needs to play the old versions. [*]Mouse-Look system was remade to make it feel more accurate and pleasant. [*]The player Camera will no longer jitter when rotating while walking. [*]Application Render mode changed to borderless Fullscreen (No longer Exclusive Fullscreen). [*]Ending images and event UIs won't awkwardly stretch anymore to fill the display width. [*]A few ending images have been retouched to reduce pencil sketch roughness and enhance detail. [*]The notes inventory menu has been remade, featuring new graphics and better text scaling. [*]Fixed an extreme number of spelling and grammar "horrors" in both English and Spanish. Many text lines have been rewritten from scratch. [*]The Shadow capture animation is now more visceral and gruesome. [*](SPOILER! DON'T READ)[spoiler] The Ethan suicide sequence was remade to make it a bit more dramatic [/spoiler]. [*]Ghosts will now appear only within the camera range (no more ghosts sneaking up from behind). This change may reduce their encounter rate. [*]Key locked doors now emit a custom sound unique to them. [*]Added visibly damaged doors to several areas of the game. These doors will never open and can help reduce door guessing. Plus, doors now have a subtle shake animation. [*]Removed one inventory slot (since it's impossible to fill them all at once). [*]The Main Menu background image now adapts to three different aspect ratios (to avoid stretching) [*]"The Shadow" now has a dark trail and some particle effects. (Mwahaha!) [*]The final puzzle now lasts 10 seconds longer. [*]The Last City level now takes 10 seconds longer to go dark. [*]Mall Parking Iron Maze timer now lasts 3 seconds longer. [*]Some areas now have a floor texture! (Used to be black or plain gray everywhere) [/list] [h3]Other Changes: [/h3] [list] [*]Particle based Fog (Such as in the "Dark Forest") no longer clips through objects or the map (Depth based blending). [*]Fixed a bug where The Shadow could capture you while doing the exit level transition. [*]The collision/trap issue on the Mall Parking stairs has been fixed. [*]"Apartments" power box side collider missing was fixed. [*]The Main Menu scene now reflects the changes made in the Hospital lobby level. [*]Keypads were improved with new sounds and animations. [*]Shadow laughter frequency decreased in the Torture Chambers (It was getting a bit annoying). [*]Several spots where stair collisions caused the player to jump have been fixed. [*]Missing textures and alignment problems in various levels and models have been corrected. [*]The corridor Hanged-Man in "Apartments" is now slightly more visible at a distance (Changed position). [*]Fixed Jumpy walls in "The Truth" level corridors. [*]Added a subtle audio event in the Hospital level. [*]The warning screen background image now has a maximum stretch limit. [*]The wire mesh texture was replaced for an improved version. [*]Added fence poles to several wire meshes in the game. Added frames to several windows. [*]Subtle texture animations were added to some buttons and props like vending machines, ATMs, phones, etc. [*]Added a gradient to the ladder sprites. [*]Fixed a bug where doors would emit an open or close sound at the start of some levels. [*]Objects such as mountains and distant scenery won't disappear abruptly due to increased culling distance. [*]Two new hanged-men sprites have been added. [*]Several textures have been color-corrected to increase the retro/pixelated feel. [*]A dissolve FX was added to all items and notes when picked up. [*]The Prison rotary rooms puzzle has been enhanced with new sounds and a new texture. [*]The Prison wire cut sequence is now animated with particles and new sounds. [*]Added a subtle interpolation to The Shadow spawn and capture animations in "The Truth" (When walking toward the voices) [*]Several sounds have been volume-balanced or replaced. [*]"Sewers" valve puzzle: New sounds and particle effects have been added when using the unpolished valve. [*]"Subway Station" level exit point was refurnished with a lot of candles. Added smoke the tunnel fire. [*]The tv controller discard message was removed (Not needed). [*]"Cell Status" text changed from green to white (As only Red/B&W colors should exist in this universe) [*][i]And this is dragging longer than it should.
