Overall, the feel of DoA is to be representative of some of the classic rpg style games with its own flair and changes. While it is meant to be enjoyable there are some things we kept that might not make sense compared to newer games.
While it may not make sense that the Inns cost less than the potions that you take with you and they heal less, this is to help you understand the necessity to prepare for battles ahead of time. Many of the enemies have various levels of attacks that seem overpowered but there are also different types of skills and consumables within the game that will provide you a unique advantage over them. Learning what these items/skills are, is part of the experience of DoA.
We will continue to patch and update the game as necessary to make sure there are no game breaking glitches or major bugs if they are found but changes to the enemies/items will be minimal.
Understandably DoA seems challenging for a JRPG style game and that is what we were trying to accomplish. A challenging game with enjoyable commentary, combat and the occasional fun references.
