Base Defense

Base Defense is a cooperative and single-player modification for Half-Life, based on horde-style and RPG systems.

[h1]Overview[/h1] Hello! Yes, it is time to make an update. The main feature of this update is difficulty selection. Bug fixes and some tweaks are included (like no more Panthers on the 2-nd wave). The monster ladder was overhauled, now it is definitely more fair. Yet some monsters became more nimble. Zombie has returned into the ladder in its new incarnation, he is able to run now. Some little tweaks were made for less of player confusion with meeting pretty the same enemy, but different name or that "devoured soul" feature, which makes player think he should get the soul, but he doesn't. This soul drop mechanic was made to let player heal after killing a monster, but as it began to drop souls as a collectible it became overpowered, so the chances were cut greatly, which made the feature pointless. Getting +1-10HP with low chances has no real effect, so this way of healing was removed (every class has healing abilites anyway). You get guaranteed soul drop for making more than 10% of damage to Gargantua or last hitting Pantagruel. Random soul drop remains also, but it's too rare. The difficulty selection, it's pretty simple. There is a new advanced setting in create game menu called "Game Mode", before you play make sure you've selected the one which fits you more. Softcore mode is a default option. There are two modes: Softcore and Hardcore (read as easy and hard). Softcore is half of Hardcore numbers and the Hardcore is a classical game. All of the necessary information player will get right in the game. Here comes a new Introduction menu. It shows the prologue (or a map specific story), the information of any event running and the description of current difficulty setting.
